And I have no idea what to do about that.

*****

Twenty-four hours later, and I still don’t have any answers. After the kiss with Anders the other night, a late-night maintenance worker in the basement of the senior boys’ dorm had us all shushing up real quick. And after he was done fixing a washing machine or whatever it was, Anders walked be back down the hallway to my own building.

…Where he kissed me again, so hard that my toes curled, and my panties were soaked by the time he pulled away.

And so here I am, back in my room a night after the wildest night of my life. My thoughts are all freaking over the place, even though I should be concentrating on the statistics homework in front of me from Professor Truman. My eyes blur over the words, not even really reading them as I lay face down on my bed. Fresh from a shower, I’m in an old too-tight-and-too-threadbare-to-wear-in-public U2 t-shirt, some hip-hugging comfy underwear, and cozy knee-socks as I try and absorb my math homework.

Finally, thank God, distraction comes with a knock on the door that shakes me out of my meandering thoughts. I remember somewhere in the back of my head that this girl Brynn Henley from my American Lit class is coming by to borrow my marked-up copy of For Whom the Bell Tolls at some point tonight. I jump from my bed and snatch the book off my desk before I skip over to the door and fling it open.

“Hey, I was wondering if you were still—”

I freeze, my jaw dropping and my eyes going as wide as saucers as I stare right into the broad, muscled chests of Carson Lafayette and Griffin Reeves. My head jerks up to look up into their grinning faces, and my face goes white as I suddenly remember where we are—the decidedly not coed girls’ dorm, after dorm curfew.

…And here I am with two of the most recognizable guys on campus standing right outside my dorm room.

If the RA picked this time to be out in the halls, I could be looking at a freaking expulsion, no questions asked. I swear under my breath as I grab them both by the shirt and yank them inside quickly, slamming the door behind me.

“If we were still, what?” Griffin grins, nodding his chiseled chin at the book now tucked under my arm. “Interested in reading Hemingway?” He shrugs. “Always.”

I roll my eyes, and I’m about to open my mouth to ask them just what the hell they think they’re doing here, when I watch their eyes watching me. Their eyes drop from my face, teasing down over me with hungry glints on both of their faces. And suddenly, I remember what I’m wearing.

Or, you know, not wearing, as the case may be.

I swear again as I whirl and grab my robe from the back of my closet door. And of course, the stupid thing catches, and catches, and still catches as I swear and yank at it, standing on my tiptoes. Suddenly, I feel a presence behind me, and I gasp quietly as Griffin reaches past me and plucks the robe from its hook on the door. I feel his large body brush against my barely covered ass before he moves back, and I tremble as I pull the robe around myself and turn back to them.

“Are you crazy?” I hiss.

They both grin.

“Maybe,” Carson shrugs.

“You realize you’re in the girls’ dorm, right?”

“I think we picked up on that, yeah.”

I roll my eyes. “Okay, I get that our basements are connected, but how the hell did you get up to the third floor without getting caught?”

Griffin smiles, raking his fingers through his dark hair.

“Easy. We came up the old servants’ staircase, from way back.”

I frown. “Servants staircase?”

Carson makes a tsking sound. “You’ve never been curious about the locked closet outside your room at the end of the hall here?”

“Um, no?”

He chuckles. “Well, surprise. That door is a staircase to the basement, which leads to our dorm.”

“Okay, but why… I mean…” I frown, realizing just before I say “why are you here” that I’m not actually mad at them being here. Just a little confused. A little excited.

…Maybe a little too excited.

“Why are we here?”

I blush. “Uh, yeah. That.”

Carson grins as he nods his chin at me. “Well, that’s a great reason right there,” he drawls with an easy smile. His eyes dip over me, and I glance down and gasp as I realize my arms crossed over my chest are only keeping the top part of my robe shut. The bottom half is wide-freaking-open, showing off my totally not sexy red cotton panties.

I blush furiously as I yank it shut and swallow thickly.

“No, we’re here because we got a gig, actually,” Griffin growls lowly.
