But Zara looks like she thinks she’s been hoodwinked. She looks ticked off.

“Could you put some fucking clothes on?”

I grin at her.

“I could.”

She rolls her eyes.

“Let me rephrase that. Please put a fucking shirt on?”

I chuckle. “Okay, okay. Chill.”

She scowls deeper. “Also maybe don’t tell me to chill? Does that ever actually have a good response from the ladies?”

Anders chuckles. “The ladies?”

She rolls her eyes again. “Please, I know who you guys are.”

“I don’t think you do,” Griff growls.

“Oh? I don’t know three of the biggest football jocks at Winchester? You’re practically royalty.”

“If you say so,” Anders mutters.

“I do say so,” she tosses back. “Everyone does, and you know it. So, drop the ‘aw shucks’ shit, okay?”

My brow furrows. “Look, do you want to play some music or not? We’ve got a lot of interest in from people looking to audition for the spot,” I lie.

And she knows it.

Zara smirks as she glances around at the empty rehearsal space. “Oh, do you?”

I scowl. “The rest are coming later.”

“I’m sure.”

She sighs heavily, crossing her arms over her full tits.

“Do you guys even play?”

“Did you not listen to the stuff on our website before you sent in your demo?” I growl.

She shrugs. “That could be anyone.”

I roll my eyes. “You do understand that this is your audition, right?”

She smiles thinly. “Please, I’m your ringer and you know it.”

I glare at her, but goddamn does my pulse skip when our eyes lock. This girl is sassy as fuck, and I kind of like it.

Actually, I really, really like it.

That and the thing is, I do know it. We all know it. Sassy or not, Zara Bateman is our ringer. She’s our golden ticket—hell, our only ticket—to the Battle of the Bands.

I glance at my friends, and it’s then that I realize something else: I am not the only one who understands how fucking sexy Zara Bateman is in that hidden way . Hell, all three of us are staring at her pretty openly, made even more hilarious by the fact that we’re all just standing around in our fucking boxers. Shit, I’m actually amazed none of us are obviously hard after having her tumble into our arms.

She glances at all three of us, her face still sour, but I can barely concentrate on that. Instead, my eyes are drawn to the way her pouty soft lips are pursed together. The way her long blonde hair tumbles down her shoulders. That fierce light in her eyes. The fact that I can see her nipples poking through that torn up tank top.

“You know what?”

Her words drag me out of it, and I blink as I focus on her. Zara scowls as she snatches up her bag and guitar case.

“I think this was a mistake.”

She whirls, storms into the elevator, turns, and punches a button. And it’s when the door slides shut that the spell she’s somehow cast over all three of us finally breaks, and we shake ourselves back into normalcy.

“Fuck!” Griff mutters, blinking as he slowly turns to us. “Fuck, we needed her.”

“Nah,” I mutter. “We…” I frown.

Fuck, yeah, we did.

Shit.

Now what.

I watch as the doors shut and listen as the elevator carries Zara away.

“Fuck it,” Carson mutters, waving a hand at the closed elevator. “Let her go. We’ll just go back to the drawing board.”

“What drawing board?” I hiss at him, scowling as I whirl and kick my football gear, hard.

“Dude, you see anyone else here?”

“We can have other auditions,” Carson mumbles.

Griff snorts. “You ever seen her play? Zara is fucking amazing.”

“I’ve seen her,” Carson mutters.

“We’d be lucky to have her,” I growl. “She’s crazy talented.”

“And beautiful.”

I glance at Griffin, and he just grins and shrugs.

“What, we’re all thinking it.”

Carson grins. “Got a thing for the band geek, buddy?”

“Uh, yeah I do,” Griff snorts. “And so do you.”

“Whatever.”

“Unless that half-mast in your shorts is for me, buddy,” our big friend chuckles. “In which case all I can say is ‘flattered, but not interested.’”

Carson rolls his eyes and grabs the obvious bulge in his boxers.

“You wish, Griff.”

We all chuckle before the laughter fades.

“Also, you’re right,” Carson adds, his voice low before he glances at me. “Anders?”

Fuck.

I nod before I can even pretend to say otherwise.

“Yeah, I am. And seriously, fuck can she play.”

“We need to get her back,” Griff rumbles.

The three of us go quiet for a minute. And then another minute before I finally sigh and shake my head.

“Okay, fuck it. I’ll go talk to her and get her to come back.”

Carson frowns. “Why you?”

“Because you pissed her off, and you barley said a word,” I nod my chin at Griff, who frowns.

“Fine, dick. Go get her back.”

I nod as I grab a t-shirt and a pair of jeans, slipping them on.

“You think you two can lock up here and sneak back onto campus okay?”
