Chapter Fifteen

Colt checked the time and saw it was a little after ten and Rosalie still hadn’t come down. He was tempted to go and check on her, but then the breakfast would be spoiled, and he wanted this to be perfect.

He’d already called home and his father had told him to stop worrying and to focus on his marriage, on Rosalie. Everything was fine but there had been an edge to his father’s voice. They had found something big at Daemon’s and he still wouldn’t disclose what it was. All Warden wanted him to focus on was Rosalie and this marriage. As far as his dad was concerned, until further notice, the deal was still being followed between him and Rosalie.

He had a feeling Warden had a soft spot for Rosalie. She wasn’t Nancy, but she was an innocent woman. Colt saw that now more than ever. He had a feeling last night was the first time his wife had ever experienced an orgasm. Glancing toward the door, he kept expecting her to turn up, but still she hadn’t. Was she embarrassed to see him? To talk to him? He’d loved last night, touching her, feeling how open she was. He wanted to do it again and again.

She’s a fucking job.

Colt didn’t like how quickly the job had turned into pleasure. He wanted to keep touching Rosalie, explore with her, show her it didn’t have to be all bad.

Rosalie’s acceptance and even demand that he kill her father had surprised him, but now he couldn’t hide from the truth. She hated her father, was nothing like him, and wanted him gone from this world. Once again, she was doing everything she could to protect her mother. That was all she had ever done in her life—protect her mother—and it should have been the other way around.

The back door of the kitchen opened and he spun, grabbing the nearest knife out of instinct. He quickly lowered it when Rosalie came through the door, carrying a bag of groceries.

“You’re not in bed?” Colt asked.

“After ten? Hell, no. I’ve always been a light sleeper. I don’t like sleeping in. Never have.”

“You went into town?” he asked.

The island had a small town for the tourists. It was a beautiful place, calm and stunning. Shopping was always a pleasure.

“Yeah. Our fridge was looking a little low so I figured head to the shops and get something for us to eat for the next couple of days. You made breakfast. Great, I’m starving. I only had a glass of water when I woke up this morning.”

“Why didn’t you come and wake me?” he asked.

“Why wake you? You were sleeping and I was perfectly safe.”

“You can’t do this back home,” Colt said.

“We’re not home.”

Colt moved toward her and grabbed her arms. “I’m being serious, okay? When you’re at home, you can’t go anywhere alone. Promise me that.”

“You’re freaking me out but I won’t. Apart from the toilet, would that work?”

He chuckled. “Don’t get smart with me.”

Rosalie laughed. “Are you going to dish us up some of that delicious breakfast? I’m not lying. I’m starving.” She rubbed her stomach.

Colt had been trying to keep it warm, so he quickly began to dish it onto two plates and then carried them to the dining room. Rosalie had already grabbed some cutlery, along with the brewed coffee, which she poured for them both.

“Do you take cream? Sugar? Milk?”

“Sugar, that’s all.”

Rosalie added a couple of teaspoons of sugar and then sat down after putting his mug in front of him.

“This smells so good.”

He watched her take the first bite of bacon and her eyes closed.

“Enjoy.”

Colt picked up his own cutlery and dived in. He still didn’t like that she’d gone to town without him.

“When you get up tomorrow, wake me,” he said.

Rosalie shook her head. “This is a vacation, Colt. Why get you up when you can enjoy the rest and relaxation that you don’t get any other time?” she asked. “It makes absolutely no sense to me.”

“This is our honeymoon, Rosalie, and considering I brought you to orgasm last night, I think it’s only fair I get to spend time with you.”

He stared at her and saw her cheeks heat up, but there was also a smile on her lips. “Let me get this straight. You gave me my first orgasm and now you want to hang out?”

“Yes.” Colt hadn’t expected her to be quite so teasing, but he liked it.

There was a smile to her lips, she wasn’t faking, this was real. Rosalie was either flirting with him or joking. He thought the latter, since he had a feeling she had no idea how to flirt.

“What happens if I bring you to orgasm?” Rosalie asked.

“Then you get to hang out with me.”

“When? Back home? Here?”

“Whenever you want.”

Rosalie took another bite of food, licking her lips. “And what happens when we go home? Do you go back to being a giant dick to me when the club members are around?”
