“You want me to tease Petal.”

“You can do whatever you want, so long as it keeps her away from Rosalie.”

“And what do I get out of it?” Dirty asked.

“The pleasure of a woman’s company.”

Dirty wrinkled his nose. “I can have the pleasure of a lot of women’s company, Colt, and it doesn’t cost me.”

“Fine. Fine. I’ll owe you one, then.”

“Neat. I’ll do it.”

“Subtly.”

“Seriously, what the fuck has gotten into you?” Dirty asked, walking away in the opposite direction.

He imagined tonight wasn’t going to be the night that Dirty made his move. Fuck. Finishing off his beer, he looked around the clubhouse, feeling fucking miserable. This was not how he wanted to spend his night. Colt was about to go to Rosalie when he spotted Warden heading in his direction.

“Are you all right, son?” Warden asked.

“Fine.”

“I see you convinced Rosalie.”

Warden knew Rosalie’s terms as Colt had taken her request to church. All the guys had voted in favor of helping Gabrielle. None of them had liked her story, how she had been forced by Daemon to live this life.

Colt hadn’t told anyone else but his father and mother what Daemon had told him. About the start of Rosalie’s life. He was convinced she didn’t have a clue what he was talking about. She didn’t need to know the troubles her mother went through before she finally decided to love her daughter.

“We’ve got men stationed around Gabrielle’s house. We’re also asking her to come and stay with us for a few weeks. Kim’s thinking about taking her on a cruise or something. Get out of town for awhile, that way we can handle her moving into a place closer to us.”

“Good.”

“You do realize this is costing the club a lot of money?”

“I know,” Colt said. It was him paying for a great deal as well. He’d been saving for the renovations on his own place, but this seemed more important. “We have to do something, Pop. We can’t keep putting off this run. You and I know that. It won’t be long before those weapons end up in someone else’s hands, and we need them.”

“I’ve gotten word that there’s movement in the Evil Fuckers MC clubhouse. Daemon has been acting strange the past couple of days. He had a big fuck-ass delivery, large truck, but my guy couldn’t make out what it was.”

“What do you think it is?”

“Not a clue,” Warden said. “I can think and imagine from here to the fucking moon what it could be.” He shrugged. “There’s no way of knowing, not yet, unless we get invited to the clubhouse anytime soon, and we cause a big distraction.”

Colt looked toward Rosalie. “What if we have a small honeymoon party?”

“You and Rosalie haven’t been on a honeymoon.”

“What if I take her on one?” Colt asked.

“Just away to a small place, a beach, sand, all that shit. Just her and me. You could get Mom to talk to him, maybe have Gabrielle go as well.”

This would help him out.

Warden nodded. “I like it.”

“With me and Rosalie out of the way, it might distract him.”

“This is assuming you’re correct and Rosalie is important to him.”

“Oh, she is. I also think you should have Mom move up her cruise, and instead of you going on it, it can be an all-women’s cruise. We’ll spring it on him on the same day.”

Warden agreed and slapped him on the back. “You’re good, son. Only one problem, you’ve got to get Rosalie to agree.”

He looked toward Rosalie’s table to see she was getting to her feet and already moving toward the door.

“I’ll handle that.”

Colt rushed across the clubhouse and followed Rosalie and Petal out of the main club. The party was still in full swing outside, but not as loud. A few fires had been lit to help keep some of the club warm.

“Where are you going?” Colt asked.

Petal stopped at her car. Rosalie rounded to the passenger side. “I’m heading home.”

“I’ll take you.”

“It’s not far,” Petal said.

“But, it is out of your way, and I’m heading home myself, so there’s nothing to stress about.” He went to Rosalie’s side and tried to take her hand, but she pulled away from him.

“Go and enjoy your party. Honestly, I can make it home.”

“Party is done. I’m going home. I’ve already said good night to my folks. Besides, my place is out of reach for Petal. Why not let her get home?”

Petal chuckled. “I don’t mind dropping you off, Rose, you know that, babe. Colt has a point if he’s heading home.”

Rosalie agreed. She pulled away from him and rounded the car, pulling Petal in for a hug. “You’ll pick me up tomorrow.”

“First thing.” Petal kissed Rosalie’s cheek, and then climbed into the car. She wound down the window, held her hand up, and gave them a finger wave, before pulling out of the parking lot.
