Braxton rolls his eyes. “Man, when the hell are you going to ask her out? It’s obvious you like her. Have since you were a damn kid. You guys hang out all the time. I know you write music together. Your ass has been friend-zoned, and if you don’t speak up soon, it’s where you’ll remain.”

Well, that’s something new. I mean, I get it. Kendall is freaking gorgeous. But she’s also Declan’s best friend’s sister and several years older. When we were in high school, Camden would talk shit about Declan having a crush on his sister, but I never knew it was more than that.

Declan doesn’t say anything back. He just punches Braxton in the arm before walking over to where everyone is and wrapping his arm around Kendall, drawing her into his side. She smiles up at him and kisses his cheek. He must say something funny because she throws her head back with a laugh that has Declan grinning like a fool.

“Declan likes Kendall?” I ask even though it’s obvious now that I’m watching them together.

Braxton laughs. “He’s had it bad for years. Started out as a crush, from what Camden said, and eventually turned into more.”

“So why doesn’t he ask her out?” Declan is hot. With his long dirty-blond hair, midnight-blue eyes, and scruffy face, women practically cream themselves when he graces them with his presence. He’s not my type. I prefer someone more rugged—i.e. Braxton with his tattoos for days and dick piercing—but Declan definitely isn’t hard on the eyes.

“He’s a romantic.” Braxton shrugs. “And Kendall is a heartbreak waiting to happen.”

“True.” You’d have to be dead or living under a rock not to know about the dozens of men she’s dated, dumped, and then wrote songs about. “But maybe she just needs to find the right guy.”

“There’s a music festival up the beach. We should totally go.” Kendall is lying out in her teeny-tiny bikini while Declan remains near but not too close, drooling from afar. I can’t help but laugh at how obvious his feelings are now that I know, and I wonder if Kendall realizes.

“Really? Which one?” Declan asks.

“The Miami Summer Music Festival. It’s mostly up-and-coming artists, but I bet it’ll be rocking.”

“And which artist are you interested in?” Camden says dryly.

Kendall laughs. “Can’t I just be interested in the music?” Her parents snicker, and she rolls her eyes. “Whatever.”

“I’m down,” Easton says. “We actually have a few people performing there. We can check out the talent. I bet there’ll be a few unsigned artists.”

“You up for it?” Camden asks Layla.

“Sure.” She shrugs. “But I’m not sure Felix will be.” She glances down at her little boy, who’s curled into her side and sleeping soundly, the sun having knocked him out.

“I can stay with him,” Patricia, her mom, offers. “I’m wiped.”

“Can I stay too?” Phoebe asks, looking up from her phone.

“Sure, sweetie,” Patricia says, smiling at her.

After agreeing on when to meet, we head back to the house, shower, and get ready. Since it’s an outdoor festival, I dress in a pair of denim cutoff shorts with one of Braxton’s Chaotic Tour shirts that’s a bit too big, so I’ve knotted it at the corner to show off a bit of my skin, and a pair of Vans.

Braxton was using the other bathroom, and when he comes out dressed in his ripped to shreds skinny jeans, a Raging Chaos shirt, and the same damn Vans as me, I can’t help but laugh.

“What?”

“We’re matching.”

He glances down at himself and then takes me in. “You look hot in my shirt.”

I roll my eyes playfully. “Of course that’s all you’d notice.”

He shrugs unapologetically and hooks his arm around my neck. “Let’s roll.”

We meet up with the others and walk down the beach to where the festival is being held. It’s completely sold out, but of course, between the Blackwoods being who they are and the band being mega famous, we get in without a problem.

We spend the next hour or so checking out the various bands from the VIP section since the guys and Kendall can’t exactly hang out with the rest of the crowd without being mobbed. They range from rock, like Raging Chaos, to R&B and pop, similar to Kendall. Most are newer in the music industry, but they’re all extremely talented.

Of course, when you’re famous, you’re never really off, so when we go backstage, because Easton wants to find out about the possibility of signing a couple of the artists, and one of the guys mentions it would be awesome if Raging Chaos would surprise everyone by jumping on stage and performing a couple of songs, the guys agree.

Since it’s the perfect opportunity to promo them, I pull out my phone and quickly log into their social media, clicking to go live. Fans love when musicians show up and do shit like this. They play one song and then start in on another, making the crowd go insane.
