Fucking gross.

I can feel my anger bubbling over. Truth of the matter is that I should just walk. Let him ruin me. I’ve lived through worse. Sure, it would suck, but many of my clients will stay loyal because they know him, and they know me. Very few people don’t know what he’s like. Unfortunately, his timing is not opportune. I’ve just taken out a massive loan to expand. I’m currently opening up a second office in Hollywood. If any of my clients walk, I’ll be fucked. I’m leveraged too thin as it is. That’s the only reason I’m here.

Get him the Oscar, then part ways.

“Just implied,” I grit.

He nods. “Now you’re getting it.”

“Listen, as fun as this is, I have to speak with Michael. Stefan needs to get a new safety coordinator and hire more staff. This shoot is only supposed to take a month, but seeing as half the staff has been fired, I’m not sure how he’s going to make that deadline, and your next project is quickly approaching.”

I understand why Stefan was pissed, but firing so many people will do more damage than a few gossip articles. As much as I don’t love Natasha, having her here is a good thing. She can convince him that any press, good or bad, is still good for the movie.

Anything can be spun to make it work.

The only thing that can’t is no movie. And without staff, that’s exactly where we’ll be.

“Don’t remind me,” he says with a yawn.

I close my eyes and take a deep breath. “I’ll speak to you later. In the meantime, stay away from Teagan unless you’re shooting.”

“Yeah, yeah. Go do your job.”

I’ve only been here one day, and I’ve noted a million things that need to be fixed.

The only thing unfixable is Brad and his smug attitude.

Lord, give me strength.

@Stargossip: Are the rumors true? Is Brad up to his old ways? Seems that there isn’t a star in Hollywood he won’t hit on.

@Bradforlife: Cry me a river. Teagan would be lucky to have Brad.

@Ilovebrad: B*tch doesn’t deserve him.

@Betterthenfiction: I hope Teagan is okay.

@Bradforlife: @Betterthenfiction Why wouldn’t she be? Again, she’d be lucky to have him.

@Deathtothesystem: You’re all ridiculous. Everything about this is toxic.

“Teagan!” I shout as I jog to catch up to her. When she shows no signs of slowing down, I pick up my pace.

I don’t enjoy running, especially on rough terrain.

By the time I catch up, my chest pants in quick spurts, and puffs of oxygen escape my mouth.

I lean forward, bracing my hands on my thighs as I try to get my breath back.

“You okay over there?” Teagan jests, and my head snaps up to see her grinning down at me.

“Y… you ran off. I thought something happened.”

I’m happy to see that I rushed here for nothing. I truly thought I would find her crying her eyes out, refusing to go back to the set. It appears whatever set her off isn’t that bad.

“Nah. Nothing like that.”

My head shakes, and I question whether I heard her right. The blood is pumping through my ears, and I can hardly hear. “Just give me a second,” I say, lifting my hand with my pointer finger up.

“Take as long as you need.” She inclines her head, and her brow lifts. “Maybe you need to start jogging.”

“Har, har, har.” I roll my eyes. “I’ll have you know I’m in good shape. I just can’t run for shit.”

“Clearly.” She taps her chin. “Sounds like you’re a mouth breather, too. It’s in through your nose, out through your mouth. Not in mouth, out mouth.”

I level her with a look I hope conveys shut up.

Straightening my spine, I get my bearings before looking back at Teagan. “Okay, I’m good now. Care to tell me what happened back there?”

She starts to play with her fingers, looking everywhere but at me. “I needed a break.”

“Teagan, you know that’s not how this works.” I press my lips together to stop from saying more. Although I’m her agent, I can’t make her do anything she doesn’t want to do.

Only the studio can. If she doesn’t fulfill her obligations, she’ll be wrapped up in lawsuits, having to pay more than she received, ruining her reputation to boot.

In the end, it’s still her choice. If she wants to sink her career, that’s on her.

She lets out a long sigh. “I know. I know. It’s just—”

She kicks at the dirt, and all the while I wait for her to finish her sentence. Eventually, I grow impatient and snap.

“It’s just what? Do you plan to keep me hanging?”

Teagan thrusts her hands into her pockets and begins to whistle.

“Very mature.”

No reaction comes with the insult, and I’m growing more agitated by the minute. I came all this way to ensure she was all right, and she can’t even be bothered to confide in me?
