“Keep it up,” I growl.

“Looks like you’re doing the job for the both of us.” She pointedly stares at my cock that won’t go down and sure as fuck won’t now with her chocolatey eyes focusing on it.

Fuck it. If my woman’s going to be bold, so will I.

“Yeah. Well, unless you plan on slipping it between that big mouth of yours, I suggest you stop staring at my cock.”

“Mr. King? Alyssa?”

I growl, trying to get control of myself as I dart my attention to the door. “In the kitchen, Franklin.”

He walks in just as she hops off the counter. “I broke a coffee cup,” she offers nervously.

“You’re not hurt, are you?” he asks, staring between the two of us.

“Nope. Mr. King’s my hero,” she sighs, mocking me before walking out of the kitchen.

“She forgot my damn coffee. That woman,” I growl.

“Sir, doesn’t Ms. Mathers have a twin?” Franklin’s brows knit together in suspicion. He’s a good looking guy even if he’s a little boring. What if my woman likes boring fuckers? I’ll kill him.

“Yes, she does. Why are you asking?” An insane urge to warn him off my woman bombards me, and he senses it, taking a step back.

“I’m just saying…something’s different about her.”

“Are you interested in her?” I’m practically in his face, seething.

“God, no. It is…just…well. I hope I’m not speaking out of turn; however, she has been acting weird since she arrived this morning. She stumbled to the elevators almost an hour late, but without concern about being late. She never acknowledged me, which is not like her.”

Oh, so I’m not the only one to notice the stumbling or being late. “Keep this to yourself. I don’t believe it’s Alyssa either. I’m going to take care of it.”

“Oh, no. Please don’t fire her.” He looks like he’s going to freaking break down.

“I won’t do that to Alyssa. Whatever their plan is, it must be important. I am going to punish them, though.”

He nods, knowing not to argue with me. “Well, I have the reports you requested. I would say you can ask Ms. Mathers to answer any questions you have, but I’m not sure she can.”

“I think it’s a splendid idea, in fact.” I rub my hands together and finish making my coffee. “Would you like a cup?”

“No, thank you, sir.” We walk out of the kitchen and into my office to go over the numbers for my London proposal.

Ten minutes later, I escort Franklin to the elevators. I wouldn’t normally do that, but my possessiveness is insanely ridiculous when it comes to my woman. She hardly acknowledges Franklin, but she tries to hide that she just ended a call. As soon as the door closes on the elevator, taking away any males from my mate. She makes me so damn animalistic that someone like Franklin had me ready to fight to the death for her.

When I reach her desk, I catch her typing on her phone again. I snarl and lean down toward her, getting jealous. She made a mistake coming here because she sealed her fate. “Care to share with the class?” I bite out through gritted teeth, feeling possessive over her.

“Excuse me. It’s private.” This woman is going to have my handprint on her ass if she keeps this shit up.

“Yes, and this is my company, and you’re supposed to be a professional. Can you manage to act like it today? Or at least learn how since our flight leaves soon,” I say, standing straight and my expression uncompromising.

“What? I can’t go.”

“I believe we’ve already been through this.” I sit on the edge of the desk, smirking at her bare feet. “Like you’re not going to love Paris. High heels and high fashion.”

“And high prices,” she retorts, shoving her feet back into the shoes that she actually hates.

“Let me worry about that. Get your ass ready to leave in twenty minutes. Don’t give me shit, or I’ll carry you over my shoulder out of the building.”

“You wouldn’t.”

“Try me. In fact, that sounds like a great idea. Having your round ass in my face.” I walk away without another word, watching her blush and stammer to find something to say. She starts texting the second she thinks I’ve gone into my office, unaware there are cameras out there. I watch her text and call. By the hushed whisper, I’m betting she’s calling Alyssa. From the frantic typing, my assistant isn’t answering my future wife.

I chuckle and finish what I came in to do. It doesn’t take long, and I’m glad I decided to go into work even though the airport’s closer to home.

Chapter 3

Alexa

Mr. King comes out of his office with his suit jacket over his arm and leather messenger bag over his shoulder. I tuck my phone away, having sent my ninth message to my sister. She’s starting to worry me. Maybe she forgot to take it off silent or turn it back on.
