"You're going to come, aren't you?" he asks, his voice like gravel.

"Yes," I moan.

He sits up beneath me in one fluid move.

I shout in ecstasy as it forces him deeper. Ah, God. He's so deep.

"Then do it, kitten," he orders me, wrapping my hair around his hand. "Let me feel it." His mouth lands against mine as he bounces me against his thighs hard and fast.

I sob into his mouth, feeling like I'm flying. I don't want it to end. It's too good. He's too good.

"Xavier," I whisper. "I love you."

He roars as I crack apart, coming in powerful waves. He falls with me, shouting my name into the room.

We cling together, anchored to one another as we ride out the storm in a tangle of trembling limbs.

"Mine," he breathes against my throat, staking his claim on every piece of my soul. "Mine."

Chapter Nine

Xavier

By the time I let Charlie leave the bed again, it's late. We order in Chinese and eat at the bar in the kitchen with Charlie in nothing but my t-shirt and her panties. I spend as much time kissing her as I do eating. I can't keep my damn hands to myself.

Hearing her say she loves me... Jesus. I'm going to be pissed if this is a dream and I wake up on the plane from Los Angeles.

"Are you listening to me, Xavier?" Charlie demands, poking me in the ribs. "Because you don't look like you're listening."

"You can't expect me to focus when you're in nothing but panties and a t-shirt."

She rolls her eyes even as an adorable blush overtakes her cheeks. "Stop thinking dirty thoughts. My vagina needs a timeout."

"Poor little kitten," I croon, setting my takeout container aside to run my hand up her inner thigh. "Are you sore?"

"Yes." She pouts up at me.

I drag my thumb across the seam of her panties. "Right here, kitten?"

"Xavier," she groans. "You're not helping!"

I chuckle quietly and pull my hand back. "You finish eating, and I'll go draw us a bath. It'll help if you soak."

She eyes me doubtfully. "You're going to soak with me?"

"You mean get you wet, naked, and slippery? Uh, fuck yeah." I press a kiss to her temple. "Eat, kitten."

"Sir, yes, sir!" she yells as I stride from the kitchen.

"Keep it up, and I may just have you calling me that every day," I yell back, grinning like an idiot. Fuck, my family is going to love her. Especially Tate and Sariah. They love giving me grief.

I stride into the bedroom just in time to hear my phone quit ringing. Shit. I forgot to grab it on the way to the kitchen. I feel around the bed for it, snatching it up just as it starts ringing again.

I swipe to answer the unfamiliar number. "Hello?"

"Xavier, it's Finn."

"Shit. Hey. Sorry I missed your call. I left my phone in the other room."

"This is the first time I called. I'm coming up tomorrow." He pauses. "I'm bringing Jude with me."

"Why? What did you find?" I ask, worried as fuck he expects trouble if he's bringing Jude Despora with him.

"Enough to bury the Rothman," he says in disgust. "Jude wants to meet the daughter. He's willing to help get her in front of a judge to get an emergency injunction to have her mother removed as the trustee."

"I appreciate that," I murmur, grateful as hell. I know Charlie will be too. She cares a lot about Chloe and what happens to her. Knowing she has a lawyer like Jude Despora on her side will go a long way toward easing her mind.

"Don't mention it," Finn says. "I'll text you when we get to Houston in the morning. You staying at Tate's place?"

"Yeah, thanks, man."

Finn disconnects. I stand there for a long moment, relieved as fuck. We don't have her back in school yet, but we're close. If they refuse to take her back with the evidence in their hands, they don't deserve her.

My phone beeps, dragging me out of my thoughts. I glance at the screen, frowning when I see four missed calls from a Texas number. And then I see Tate's text.

Tate: Got ahold of her parents. They're going to call you.

Shit. They've been trying to call. They're probably worried as fuck right now.

I dial their number on my way into the bathroom.

Her dad answers on the first ring.

"Mr. Marsh? My name is Xavier Grimes. I'm calling about..."

"Charlie," he rasps, his tone full of worry. "Is she all right? Is she safe?"

"She's okay, sir. She's perfectly safe," I assure him.

"Shit," he whispers. "Your brother damn near gave me a heart attack when he called, son. I can't say we've ever gotten a call from a pediatric surgeon about her before today."

Ah, hell. I'm an asshole. I didn't even think about the fact that it might worry the fuck out of them to have a surgeon call about their daughter.
