“I’ll show you.” The elevator doors slide open. The same ones I fled through this morning. I let out a small gasp when I see a preacher standing inside. There’s no way he’s here for what I think he’s here for.

“Bo?”

“We're getting married.” He grabs my hand, pulling me off the elevator. Before I can utter another word, the priest is already starting his spiel.

“Wait.” I throw my hands up. This can’t be happening. A mix of emotions fills me. “This is insane. I can’t just marry you!” Can I? I think I might have to report this to WITSEC. I forget the rules. I never cared enough to read them.

This man has lost his mind. How could he want to marry me when I haven’t even told him my real name? Now that I think about it, I’m not sure Bo would care about my past.

“What made you think I was ever sane?” A bubble of laughter leaves me. I stare at Bo, wondering if I’ve lost my mind or if my dreams brought him to me. Is he my one? Did my mom send him?

“I want to but—”

“With me you’ll never fear anything.”

“Physically.” I know he would never hurt me in that way, but that’s not what I’m worried about. I know if I truly allow my walls to come down that my heart is at risk.

“You want a bigger show, Ace?” He smirks. “I always know my odds, and when I bet, I'm good, Ace.” He snaps his fingers. “Noah.” The man appears like a genie. “The prenup and will.”

“Here.” Noah holds up a file. “Along with your wedding license.” What the heck? My head is spinning.

“Don’t I need to sign for that license?” I ask. The other things are smacking me upside the head.

“If I want something, I get it, Ace.” He’s so smug. In the sweetest way, though. How that is possible I have no clue. I grab the folder out of Noah’s hand so I can see what’s inside for myself.

“I knew you were trouble.” I flip open the folder and start reading the documents one by one. The will only takes me two seconds to read through since it states that he’s leaving everything to me. The hell? This man really is crazy. Certifiable, based on this. I don’t know what to say so I let the first thing I can think of come out of my mouth. “What? Got no one else to leave everything to?” I push the papers against his chest. He only laughs. All it says is everything goes to me.

His wife!

“I don’t know why you want me to kill you,” I mutter trying to keep my emotions under control. I can tell from Noah’s expression he’s not happy with my words. Bo only keeps on smiling. Which makes me want to kiss him. I move on to the prenup. It’s as short as the will. I almost choke at the dollar amount. No strings, nothing but a flat amount. I’ve never seen so many zeroes. “Why?”

“I told you, Ace. I always know my bet.” I stare at his signature on the papers. I fight back the tears, not knowing how to handle all of this. Not understanding why this crazy, but so, so sexy man is doing this. What I do know is that I’m going to say yes. Which probably makes me just as crazy as him.

“Bo,” I whisper. He holds out his hand to me. I take it. He pulls me back into him.

“Finish,” he tells the priest.

BOWEN

Some would tell me I should care that she might only be repeating her vows back for the money, but right now, that doesn’t matter. Don’t get me wrong; I crave for her to say them because she wants to be with me, but I’m not a stupid man.

Ace is worlds beyond what I deserve, but that’s not stopping me. Her smart mouth and rebellious attitude wrapped around the innocence that is really her drew me to her. It’s an innocence I want to consume. One that has no reason to be anywhere near a man like me. I want to sink my teeth into her and taste it. I want to consume every last bit of her.

Forbidden.

I should let her go, but I won't. And that’s the very reason I’ll marry her, whether she really wants it or not. Now that I know she exists, there is no other option for me but for her to be mine in every way so she can never escape me.

I haven’t thought of myself as a beggar since I was a kid. When I was always searching to find the next petty job to bring home any money I could. My mother was trying to hide the seedy job she worked. I fight down a rush of emotions that tries to rise in me when I think about how I’m aiming to tie my Ace to me. How I’ve sort of forced her hand.
