“I’ll be there.” He nodded sharply. No chance of a no-show there, no playing hard to get after my failure to get in touch. Sean would be there, and all I could do was hope I wouldn’t regret it too much.

Chapter Nine

Denver

Sean was exactly on time as predicted, going so far as to send me a text as he left the station that Eric and the other roommate, Jonas, were handling getting the teens off to school. No surprise that Sean also included a precise ETA. I narrowly beat him to my place and had just enough time to shower and pull on a pair of baggy lounge pants. I didn’t bother with a shirt. We both knew what he was coming for.

Accordingly, I opened the door to usher him in with a dry, “You came.”

“Well, not yet.” Sean’s infectious grin was firmly in place despite the early hour. He also looked awfully fresh with damp slightly curly hair and a clean green pullover and jeans. “But here’s to hoping.”

He held out a white paper bag for me to take before hanging up his own coat on my coat tree.

“What’s this?” My mouth twisted as I studied the bag. Sean didn’t seem the type to so obviously bring the lube. “Supplies?”

“Muffins.” His pale cheeks flushed pink. “I passed that new spot on my way back from the station. An offer of coffee seemed dicey, coming on the heels of a shift. Ditto beer at seven in the morning.” His good cheer flagged a little at my lack of reply. “Hookup no-no to bring food?”

Actually, I’d never had a hookup bring snacks and couldn’t say as I’d had many dates of the food-and-activity variety. But I didn’t want Sean to feel bad for making the effort.

“Nah. Appreciated.” I opened the bag and spied two large cinnamon streusel muffins. Their sugary, spicy scent was almost enough to make me want to delay the sex. Almost. “And I don’t do beer. No alcohol these days.”

“Noted.” Thankfully, Sean didn’t make a big deal out of my non-drinking or ask for my whole story like some might. Instead, he kicked off his shoes, lining them up next to mine by the shoe tree before stalking toward the nook with my queen-size bed.

After setting the muffins on the counter, I followed him, shaking a playful finger at his eagerness. “You’re awfully cocky for a guy who likes following orders.”

“You said I needed to be in a bed to get my mouth on your dick again.” He stepped away from the bed to place both hands on my shoulders, smiling at me. “I’m just expediting the process.”

“Are you?” Spinning us, I pinned him against the nearby wall. I enjoyed how easily he let me move him because he undoubtedly had the training and skill to resist me despite our size difference. “And did I say that?”

“You did.” He tilted his head accommodatingly, clearly angling for a kiss. And I should have kept him waiting, but I wanted it too. Sean had far more power over me than he realized, and I used the kiss to reassert my dominance.

Or at least that was my aim, but our combustible connection mocked my attempts to keep control. Heat licked up my spine, more sparks than Wren’s ill-fated barbecue experiment, each meeting of our mouths a fresh explosion of pleasure. I’d started off wanting to show him who was in control, but I ended up merely hanging on, a happy prisoner to Sean. I might be the one leading, tongue delving deep, but he had all the power, a fact made clear as he pulled back to wink at me.

“Bed seems awfully far away.”

“It does.” I held his gaze, slightly gratified by how glassy and pleasure-drunk his blue eyes seemed. Other than his eyes and flushed skin, he was amazingly cocky for someone with so little experience. “You have a solution, Captain?”

“Eh. I’m not captain here. But I might have an idea.” He smiled wider as he reversed our position with the sort of skill I’d suspected he might have. Before I had a chance to make a wisecrack about it, he sank to his knees far smoother than any forty-something had a right to.

“You’re in a bold mood.”

“Complaining?”

“You get me off first, and I’m gonna make you wait for yours until I can go again.” I made my tone as stern as I could, given that Sean was busy pulling my dick out. “Prepare to beg. Fair warning: I’m not as young as I used to be.”

“Neither of us are.” He gave me a devilish wink. If anyone was going to be begging, chances were alarmingly high it might be me. “And that sounds more like a promise than a threat.”

“You’re asking for it.”

“Yep.” Sean didn’t waste any more time before sucking my cockhead into his waiting mouth. Whatever he lacked in experience, he more than made up for with enthusiasm and willingness to experiment. In fact, it was almost…fun. A word I didn’t generally associate with getting blown. Hot, erotic, pleasurable, sure, but fun was something new. But accurate as Sean tried out different tricks—licking the tip, teasing with different grips, and varying his rhythm and depth, all with undeniable glee. Fun.
