I moved in, wrapping the coat behind her so I could drape it over her shoulders. It gave me the perfect opportunity to grasp the lapels and gently pull her in. The coat wasn’t enough—I hoped to warm her up in other ways too.

Her lips parted at my action, but she seemed as eager as I was to be close.

Since she’d commented that her shoulder was cold, I eased the edge of the coat down, exposing just a sliver of skin there, and lowered my mouth to cover it. My kiss landed just above her collarbone, causing her breath to catch.

The sound of it shot through me like electricity. It made me hungry, greedy to hear more. I barely knew this woman, but I was desperate to. I wanted to learn all her hopes and dreams and secrets. I wanted to know what she was thinking about, how her laugh sounded, what expression she made when she liked something.

And even though I’d kissed her once, it wasn’t enough. I wanted to know what she tasted like.

My lips traveled along her skin, ghosting kisses as I headed toward the side of her neck. Excitement heated my blood as she tilted her head, arching to give me easier access, and her hands slid around my waist.

Was her shiver now from the cold or from how my hot mouth roved up the side of her neck? She gave the softest gasp of pleasure when I found her pulse point and sucked gently. Her hands clenched on my shirt, like the sensation was so strong, it had caught her off guard.

I could relate.

Chelsea had taken me completely by surprise. Not just the way my head swam with desire but how bold she made me feel. My heart rate banged a quicker tempo as my mouth continued to carve a path toward hers.

She was impatient though. Her head turned to me so she could bring our lips crashing together. She’d called our kiss in the elevator phenomenal, and the word rang in my ears. But this kiss now?

It put that one to shame.

Had the whole night been leading up to this moment? It felt that way. When we connected, it detonated the dam holding back our lust. Heat spilled through my body, burning all the way down to my fingertips and toes. I moved without thought, pushing my eager hands inside the coat I’d wrapped around her, finding her narrow waist to pull her against me.

She responded by slipping her tongue in my mouth, and the slick glide of hers against mine sent sparks crackling down my spine. The heat of it moved like lightning, shooting straight to my dick.

Fuck, how I wanted her.

I wanted her so bad, it was possible I’d burn up inside until there was nothing left. Lust at first sight, indeed.

Only—was that accurate? What if it was more than just that?

My mind was cloudy with desire, so I pushed the thought away and focused on the urgency pounding in my bloodstream. My hands longed to touch and explore, to learn the shape of her beneath the soft knit of her sweater.

Maybe we were perfectly matched, because as I inched my fingers beneath the hem of her top, her fingertips grazed over the fly of my jeans. The shudder of pleasure that ran through me was unstoppable, just like the way I urged her to turn her back to the half wall. My coat fell off her shoulders, landing in a heap on top of it, but that was perfect.

It gave her a layer of protection from the cold stone when I abruptly lifted and seated her on the wall. Her eyes widened for a moment, but her legs, wrapped in her sexy thigh-high boots, parted around my waist.

Without discussing it, we somehow were exactly on the same page. Both of us wanted—or needed—each other. Her chest rose and fell rapidly with her hurried breaths, even as she reached between her parted knees and palmed me through the denim of my jeans.

“I don’t usually,” she said, gulping a breath, “do this.”

She squeezed, drawing a grunt of satisfaction from me.

“Do what?” I asked through tight teeth because her simple touch felt so fucking good. “Come out to the gashouse?”

“Yes,” she agreed. “But also fool around with a guy on the first date.”

We hadn’t even had a first date, but I wasn’t going to point that out. I slid both my hands under her sweater, letting them rest provocatively on the warm skin covering her ribs. My thumbs were just below the band of her bra, both to draw out anticipation and to give her a chance to tell me if she didn’t want to go any further.

“Is that what we’re doing?” I asked in low voice.

She gave me a direct look. “Yes, Tyler. You can’t kiss me like that and then not put your hands on me.”
