“So, what am I doing with your hair?” B asked Jude as he swept up his station.

“Just taking an inch or so off. Clean it up a bit.”

“But leave it long,” Snow added with a leer at his boyfriend. “I like enough hair to really get my fingers into it.”

B thought back to Lucas and Andrei’s conversation and grinned. “Got it.”

“I guess you’re going to decide how I wear my hair now, General?” Jude’s tone was low and teasing, but there was a thread of something that made the hair on B’s neck stand on end. He shivered, wondering what that tone would sound like in the dark.

Snow lifted an eyebrow. “Did you like how I held on to it last night?”

“I liked how I held you down last night.”

B had to work to keep his surprise at their banter from showing and knew he failed when Jude winked at him in the mirror. He hoped Jude didn’t realize he was picturing Jude holding Snow down and finding the image hotter than hell. He excused himself for a moment and went to get a bottle of water, needing to cool off a little. He stood by the small refrigerator in the back, gulped down the water, and held the bottle against his forehead. He hadn’t thought anyone could be as hot as Lucas and Andrei, but he’d just learned differently.

When he returned, Cynthia had traded clients and Jude was in his chair. He quickly ushered him back for a wash and brought him to his station. B fastened a cape around him, then ran his hands through Jude’s thick hair. “Oh, you have such luxurious locks.”

Snow frowned and B couldn’t stop his laughter.

“Perk of the job,” he told the surgeon.

“Yeah, well don’t enjoy it too much.”

“Now, why would I promise such a thing? But you don’t have to worry. I have a man with fantastic hair of my very own, so I have no designs on yours.”

“I wasn’t worried,” Snow drawled slowly. “Just not too keen on you enjoying that quite so much.”

Snorting, B picked up his scissors and got to work on Jude’s hair. Cynthia, who was filing Snow’s fingernails, shot him an amused look. Yeah, she’d be running her hands through this man’s hair herself given half the chance. “So how long have you two been together?” B asked.

“Three years.” Jude smiled at his boyfriend.

“Any plans to make it permanent?”

Jude nodded. “Yes, we’re engaged.”

B steadied his head to keep it still. “I never thought I’d see the day the surgeon general would be getting married.”

“How do you know about that nickname?” Snow asked, his voice barely above a growl as he watched Cynthia work on his hands. “Jude only said ‘general.’ ”

“I was in the ER one night with my brother and overheard it. We got such a kick out of it. Bossy in the office, are we?”

“I do my job and that’s it.”

“Is he that bossy at home?” B asked Jude, tongue in cheek.

“When it’s not my turn—which is most of the time.”

B watched them stare at each other and blew out a breath. “Whew, you two are gonna burn up my poor chair!” That stare of Jude’s was the hottest thing he’d ever seen. He fanned himself and grinned at the man, who only grinned back, looking all kinds of satisfied with his life. “Oh, to be a fly on your walls at home,” he said with a smirk. He caught Snow’s eye roll out of the corner of his eye.

“Your brother okay?” Jude asked and B took note of the true interest in his dark brown eyes. This man was a kind one. Sounded like he was also bossy in the bedroom. B found the mix sexy in the extreme. Snow was indeed a lucky, lucky guy.

“He’d just cut his arm. They stitched him up and he was fine. Nothing too crazy. Do you get a lot of strange jobs like the rooster man?”

“Occasionally, but more often than not, it’s just regular nights and a lot of not-so-exciting calls.”

“I wouldn’t say that,” Snow said as he stood and stretched. Cynthia had talked him into the dark-blue moisturizing mask. “You have lots of funny stories.” He walked to the table of food and picked up a croissant. He took a bite, his gaze still locked on his fiancé. B got the feeling Snow’s eyes were usually on Jude, and he didn’t give a shit what anyone thought.

When he wandered back, Cynthia removed the mask and continued with the facial before finishing with a nice hand and arm massage with a pleasant-smelling lotion.

B finished Jude’s hair and picked up his hairdryer to blow the small hairs off his neck and chest.

“This looks really good,” Jude said as he leaned forward to look in the mirror.

“I’m glad you like it.” B pulled the cape off him. “So, are you guys looking forward to Ian’s wedding?”
