He has made it clear that he’d like some grandkids at some point, though, which is pretty adorable. And lucky for Carl—not to mention us—it’s happening. We haven’t told him yet, but Mason and I have a lunch date with his father next week to break the news to him, and it’s been so wonderful to see the excitement in my husband’s eyes—to tell his dad about being a dad, but also the sheer excitement he’s got to meet his unborn daughter in a few months.

Oh, right. Mason and I got married. It was a small thing on the beach, with just an officiant, my friend Celeste, his friend Shane from high school, and Carl. Do we get looks with the age difference? Maybe, but then, we do live in LA, so it’s not terrible. The more annoying part is when people assume he’s like a boy-toy or something—which, to be fair, he is. He just also happens to be my husband and the love of my life.

So this is life now. This is our next chapter, and I couldn’t be happier. Two years ago, I was lost, and he was adrift. Then we bumped into each other and we held on tight, and now, we’re not ever going to let go.

I don’t have a view out of my bathroom window into Mason’s bedroom anymore. But I don’t need it. Not when I can just turn over in bed whenever I want to peep on him. Oh, and that big new pool? Well, Mason insists on cleaning it himself, usually nearly naked and in front of me, on the regular.

And I make sure to give him a very, very big tip every single time.
