Her head reared back in shock, and she jumped up. “Seriously? You’re just sitting there in labor? What’re you waiting for, the game to end?”

I nodded jerkily, unable to get any words out at the moment.

“Daddy!” Dani and Jenna screamed in unison. Justice was standing in the dugout to the left of home plate, and his head whipped in their direction as soon as he heard his daughter’s voices.

“Mommy’s hafin’ the baby!” Jenna explained.

“Now!” Dani added.

“Damn, it’s a good thing you’re giving my brother another baby,” Thatcher sighed, shaking his head as he stood and started to gather all of our things. “The recovery process just might be long enough that he’ll have time to get over being pissed that you didn’t have one of us get him as soon as you started having contractions.”

‘Only if you make it to the hospital and don’t have the baby in the car,” Imogene pointed out as Justice raced over to the stands. “If that happens, he’ll never let you live it down.”

“And you’ll probably end up with a red ass as soon as the doctor says you’re fully healed,” Thatcher mumbled under his breath just loud enough for Imogene and me to hear.

It was my face that turned red and not because of the strain from the contraction that ended seconds before my husband reached me. I could too easily picture him spanking my backside, and it was awkward to get a little turned on by the thought while I was in labor.

“C’mon, bunny. I’ve got you,” Justice murmured as he wrapped his arm around my waist to help me stand. Once I was on my feet, he glanced to the right and nodded. “Benjamin is going to get the car, so you don’t have far to walk. Will you be okay, or do you need me to carry you?”

“I can walk,” I grumbled as he kept his arm around me and took most of my weight anyway.

“We’ll take the kids,” Thatcher offered.

“Take us where? Why did Dad come over here when I was hitting a home run?” Trevor asked, his eyes narrowing when he spotted how Justice was holding me. “What’s wrong with Mommy?”

“I’m okay, sweetie,” I reassured my little protector.

Thatcher patted his shoulder and explained, “Your dad is going to take your mom to the hospital so she can have the baby, and you guys are going to come with us.”

“That’s not going to work. Your SUV is big, but no way will it fit all the booster and car seats you’d need for this crew,” Justice said, calling attention to the logistical issue of having seven kids between the two couples as he started to lead me around the stands.

“Kya has a vehicle with her, so we have enough room for everybody,” Thatcher assured him.

“Perfect.” Justice ran his hand through his hair, heaving a sigh of relief. “You take the kids, and I’ll call when there’s news.”

“Nuh-uh.” Trevor shook his head. “I’m going with Mommy. She might need me.”

“I won’t let anything happen to her.” Justice let go of me to bend down to our son’s level. “But I need you to help look after your sisters for me. Can you do that, buddy?”

Trevor’s chest puffed up, and he nodded. “Yup, I’ll make sure they’re okay.”

“We’ll get the kids cleaned up and fed, and then we’ll head over to the hospital so Trevor, Dani, and Jenna can meet their baby sister as soon as she’s here,” Imogene offered, flashing a grin at my son. “Since we all know Trevor is going to pester us to head over there before too long.”

My laughter turned into a gasp when my stomach tightened again, the pain hitting me hard. I reached out and placed my hand on Justice’s shoulder to steady myself. I held on until the contraction passed. “We need to go. Now.”

Everybody trailed after us and watched as Justice got me settled into one of the captain’s chairs in the second row of our Cadillac Escalade. While he ran around to the other side, Benjamin grabbed my overnight bag—which Justice had put back there a week ago just in case we needed it—from the back and tossed it in the passenger seat. We roared out of the parking lot, but it didn’t matter that Benjamin drove ten miles over the speed limit. It turned out that Imogene had jinxed us by bringing up how angry Justice would be if we didn’t make it to the hospital. I would’ve had the baby in the car if Benjamin hadn’t called for an ambulance on our way there. But at least there was only one this time—a beautiful girl we named Samantha—even if Justice did spank my butt before fucking me hard from behind so he could see his handprint after my six-week appointment.
