Fuck that.

“Shit, Alex, look at your face right now.” Vince grinned, his white teeth tinted pink form the blood. “You look like a fucking beast. All you need is some smoke coming out of your ears.” Vince held up his hands and beckoned him closer.

Alex didn’t want to do any fancy moves. All he wanted at that moment was to beat the shit out of Vince and get out all of this sudden anger. He charged Vince and saw the fucker’s body tense in anticipation.

“That’s it, pretty boy,” Vince taunted. “Don’t hold back on my account.” They clashed together in a tangle of fists and kicks, each one cracking knuckles into every available spot.

Alex got hit in the gut more times than he cared to admit, but he got a good uppercut to Vince, causing the other guy’s lip to split wide open.

“Motherfucker.” Vince stumbled back and swiped his thumb across his lip, bringing it up so he could see the ruby color smeared along the digit. His face turned an angry shade of red, but Alex didn’t give a fuck it he pissed the fighter off. Vince had wanted this, and Alex was just giving him his all.

“Yo, what the fuck is going on?” The sound of Dylan’s voice booming throughout the gym had both Vince and Alex stilling.

Both men looked at Dylan, who now stood by the ropes, his big arms crossed over his broad chest.

“I asked what the fuck was going on.” Dylan’s glared at the two of them. “This is a fucking training center not a back alley. If you assholes want to fight dirty, do it someplace else, you feel me?”

Vince shifted on his feet and cleared his throat, and Alex nodded, knowing to keep his mouth shut. It might have started off as a friendly sparring match, but it quickly turned into something else.

Dylan stared at Alex and grumbled out, “Go ice your fucking face, Alex. And, Vince, get the blood cleaned off the mat.” Dylan shook his head. “You two are the biggest pains in my ass, you know that?” He didn’t wait for a reply, just turned and stalked away.

Alex stood there a moment just trying to control his breathing before he made his way out of the ring and into the small room that served as an infirmary. He grabbed a gel-pack from the fridge and slammed the door closed a little harder than necessary, a few of the items stacked on top of the appliance shaking violently.

His anger still pulsed through his veins. God, he was acting ridiculous, getting pissed at his friends, and over what? Some girl he’d just met that wasn’t even his? She was going to be his fucking tutor, yet here he was, with a fucking hard-on for her and acting all possessive and jealous because of some words Vince had spit out.

He sat his ass on a chair and slapped the cold pack on his bruised cheek, groaning at his own stupidity, his frustration, and the fact his body fucking ached. “Shit. I’m in too deep.”

Alex ran his hand through his sweat-damp hair and hung his head between his shoulders, his eyes closed, his breathing becoming ragged, that had nothing to do with the fight just moments before. He was losing it and going ape shit crazy on his friends over it. The sound of the door opening had him dreading talking to Dylan about what his problem was, because honestly, he had no fucking clue and didn’t have an answer anyway.

“Dylan, man, I’m sorry about that,” he said without looking up. “I just snapped over some stupid shit.” And it was stupid, given the fact there was nothing between him and Mary. He lifted his head when Dylan didn’t respond and saw it was Vince leaning against the wall right across from him.

Shit, he felt like a damn asshole as he took in the bruise forming on his jaw and the swollen lip he sported, but he was still pissed that Vince had said that about Mary.

“Hey, man,” Vince said in a low voice.

The nonchalant greeting had Alex straightening and eyeing Vince suspiciously. Vince grinned and pushed off the wall, moving toward him.

“You were hella crazy back there.” Vince walked to the fridge and opened it to grab a gel-pack from inside before shutting the door and turning to face Alex once more. He pressed it to his jaw and grinned. “One hell of a hit, man.”

Alex snorted and leaned fully back on the chair. “Yeah, sorry about that.”

Vince’s expression was stoic. “Never see you get that fierce.” He leaned against the fridge and stared at Alex. “And over a female.”

Alex shrugged, not sure what to say.

“I mean, that girl yours or something? That why you went ballistic when I was talking about her?” Vince just talking about Mary again had him curling his hand into a fist and gritting his teeth. Of course, Vince noticed and smirked.
