“I’m sure Stefano was grateful.”

I grinned. “He came with me.”

“Oh God. Your poor dad!”

Laughing, I bit into a spring roll, enjoying the crisp wrapper and crunchy fillings. The plum sauce was spicier than usual, and my eyes watered a little. I took a sip of water.

“He was fine. Pops took it all in stride. Told him he thought Rosa was an incredible woman he would be proud to call his friend. Stefano relaxed a little. Helped me check the car. Had a bottle of root beer and told him to have his mother home at a decent hour.”

“What did Daddy Mack say?”

I rolled my eyes. “Stop calling him that. You make him sound like some sort of sex god.”

A mischievous look crossed her face. “Well, I’ve had sex with his son. You must get the talent from somewhere.”

I choked around a mouthful of noodles. She patted my back, trying to hold in her laughter.

I wiped my mouth. “I cannot even begin to tell you how many things were wrong with that statement. Jesus, that is my dad! I can’t think about him having sex—now or ever.”

“Obviously since you’re here, he did.”

“Stop it!” I began to laugh. “We are not having this conversation anymore.”

“But what did he say?”

“He said that was his plan. Then Pops walked away, looking over his shoulder, and told Stefano everyone had different ideas on a ‘decent hour.’ I thought Stefano was going to burst a blood vessel in his head from the color on his face.”

She laughed with me.

“I convinced him Pops was pulling his leg, and we finished the car and left. Stefano saw a corsage Pops got Rosa for her wrist sitting on the counter when we went in to tell him we were leaving. He sorta caved right there.”

“Ah, Daddy Mack still has moves.”

I shook my head, finishing what was on my plate, pleased to see she did the same.

“Your appetite is coming back.”

“Yeah. I’m sleeping a little better too.”

I frowned. “What?”

She sighed. “I kept having nightmares. But since the night you stayed, they’ve gotten better.”

“Oh, ah… Well, glad I could help.”

We finished eating and cleared the table. There was little in the way of leftovers, but she assured me she would eat them for lunch. She brought us bowls of ice cream, and we sat on the sofa, eating the cold dessert.

“You want to watch a movie or something?” she asked, looking unsure. “Unless you, ah, have to go?”

“No. A movie sounds good.”

She gave me the remote and took the bowls to the kitchen. I chose a newer release and took the water she gave me before sitting back on the sofa. After a while, she shifted, rolling her neck. I patted the seat beside me. “Slide over.”

She hesitated, then did as I asked, moaning low in her throat as I rubbed her shoulders.

“You always carry your tension here.”

“I know. One masseuse I went to called them cement,” she replied.

We turned our attention back to the screen. After I rubbed her shoulders a little more, I pulled her back to my side, draping my arm around her. It felt natural to sit here with her, doing something as mundane as watching a movie. We hadn’t done many of the usual things other couples did when they were dating. Mostly because we never dated. I was never sure what to call our relationship except one long string of booty calls. Until it changed. And she left.

I shook my head to clear it, focusing on the screen. The couple in the movie was heating it up, her pushed against the wall while he ravished her mouth. The angle of the shot was perfect, cutting away to his hand drifting up her body. It reminded me of the times in the storeroom. The barn. The dim light that would surround us as Kelly and I gave in to the never-ending passion that seemed to burn between us. My cock twitched in remembrance. Beside me, Kelly shifted, her breathing becoming deeper. She tilted her head, our eyes locking. My deeper blue met her silvery gaze, flickers of fire winding down my spine.

Who moved first, I had no idea. But one moment, she was beside me, the next, she was on my lap, her legs straddling mine. Her mouth was pure heat. Sweet from the ice cream, her tongue tangling with mine, both of us fighting for dominance. She wound her arms around my neck, pulling on my hair, gripping at my neck. I thrust my hands under her loose shirt, cupping her bare breasts. I always loved the fact that she rarely wore a bra. Her nipples were hard peaks under my fingers, and she whimpered as I pinched and tugged on them. She ground against me, my cock straining to get closer to her. The past, the pain, everything between us fell away. Nothing mattered except this moment. The constant push and pull between us. I broke from her mouth, running my lips down her neck, biting at the sweet juncture where head met shoulder. She tugged on my shirt, and I helped her pull it over my head. Her shirt disappeared somewhere behind me. Our chests rubbed together as I yanked her tight to me, slanting my mouth over hers once again and kissing her until she was breathless. Until all I tasted, felt, and knew was her.
