And then painful splitting of my skin has my world turning black. Each bone in my body moves and cracks and stretches. Clothing tears from my body, dropping to useless heaps on the bed. The dogtags snap when my neck thickens, and they clink to the blanket. Claws elongate from my fingertips, sharp and brutal. A hiss leaves my lips while fangs grow down to piercing points. My skin prickles as coarse hair leaves my pores, spreading across my flesh in rapid speed.

Thump.

A growl rumbles from my chest, and I snap my head toward the sound. My thoughts are a ragged mess as I glower at the naked man. His face is pale, and fear shines in his green eyes. I pounce from the bed to the floor, stalking a path back and forth in front of him, my gaze never leaving his. Terror is a scent I can almost taste. It clouds the air around him. I want to feed on it. Devour the weakness as my first meal as my wolf.

“Rem,” Cash chokes out, holding a hand up as he crabwalks backwards. “Please, let’s talk about this.”

Talk about what?

The fact he wanted to rape me, steal from me, and probably kill me?

Nah, I’d rather just shut him up.

I take a step forward, ready to rip his throat out when I hear it.

A deep, furious howl.

My mate’s call.

He’s running full speed at me. Without thinking, I bolt across the bedroom and lunge at the glass. It shatters as I jump through it, but the shards glance off my fur without incident. My claws dig into the earth with each powerful step I take. The thundering in my heart is so loud and wild, I can’t control it.

All I know is I need him.

Cy.

My fated mate.

His howl is closer. I run toward the sound, desperate to see him. Rain begins to shower down on me, soaking me to the bone. I don’t care. I run harder and faster, need to see Cy overpowering all other worries. The closer I get to him, the more potent his scent is. My mouth waters to taste him.

Something charges at me from the shadows, pouncing on me. I let loose a furious snarl, flipping the wolf onto the earth with my fangs going to his throat.

Not a threat.

Cy.

Mate. Mate. Mate.

I can hear his thoughts inside my head even as he licks at my snout. Pleasure courses through me. He tries to stand, but I’m hard and overcome with the need to fuck. His body goes still when I mount him.

My mate, he says in my mind. Fuck me.

I thrust into him without warning. Just hard and violent. He howls, but it’s a relieved sound. Like he’s waited forever for me. I grunt, driving into him a few times until my seed barrels out of me.

Mate.

Forever.

I feel those words hot and deep in my soul. There’s no breaking this bond. Ever. He’s mine and I’m his. I’ve barely pulled out of him when he’s speaking again in my head.

We’ll do this properly. Later. In my bed when I have you pinned beneath me next time. I’m going to take my time worshipping you. Right now, we need to help the pack.

He shakes off water as he jumps to his feet. I trot after him, scenting the air as I search for a clue as to where our pack might be.

They’re incubi shifters, Cy explains as we run through the rain that’s quickly turning into a downpour. It’s all coming back to me. Training I learned as a child. I didn’t want to think this was the same, but it’s the only thing that makes sense now. Theb East is their king and father. Incubi shifters possess the ability to charm objects and people. They’re also excellent at covering their scent, which is why we’ve been staring those fuckers in the face ever since they showed up and didn’t know what they were.

Someone groans from nearby. I screech to a halt, cocking my head toward the sound. When I recognize the voice, I tear off after it. Lying beside a tree, shivering and covered in lacerations, Finnick moans. The metal collar around his neck is on so tight his face is purple.

He needs to shift, Cy booms in my head. Whatever that thing is, it keeps us from being able to. If he can shift, he’ll heal.

I mind shift the metal into feathers. They float away from him, freeing him. Trotting over to him, I lick his face and paw at his shoulder. He groans again, but once he realizes he’s free, he begins to shift into his wolf. Cy is already running toward the rest of the pack, knowing Finnick and I won’t be far behind.

A familiar howl calls out in the distance.

Judd and Ewan are in trouble. Rey.
