He also encouraged me to leave my job at the restaurant. He pointed out that he had more than enough resources to provide for the two of us. But mainly, he didn’t want me to have to work somewhere I didn’t enjoy. He left the decision up to me, and I took the leap. He said that he would support any career choice I made, as long as I was happy; even if I just wanted to help out with the Dew Drop production, which sounded incredible.

I’ll admit that at first, the big changes made my head spin. We were taking the physical part of our relationship slowly (besides a few manic makeout sessions), but everything else was moving at lightning speed. But even though it was a lot, it all felt so…right.

I didn’t want to live apart from Rider. I needed to be near him always. My soul was happy and content for the first time in my life. He made me feel special and like a priority; not an obligation, but a privilege. I used to feel like a complete mess, but now he made me feel complete.

It wasn’t one particular thing, but the combination of everything that convinced me of the obvious; I was in love with Rider. It may be fast by human standards, but I supposed when your boyfriend was an immortal paranormal being, logic and timelines went out the window.

I was sure of my feelings, but I hadn’t told Rider yet. I was waiting for the perfect time, and something inside told me that I’d know when it was. For now, I wanted to enjoy the evening with my friends.

The club scene didn’t normally excite me (or Rider, for that matter), but I felt safe with my pack at my side. I knew that I could relax, let loose, and be myself without having to constantly look over my shoulder.

The music thumped across the speakers, and lights flashed across the dance floor. Bodies swayed and grinded to the beat as the dancers lifted their drinks into the air to not spill a drop.

Rowdy turned to the group and said, “Grab a seat and I’ll hook you guys up with drinks,” before he and Grayson made their way towards the bar.

Rider kept a firm hold on my hand as he, Ridge, Zane, and I weaved across the floor until we found a small table in the corner, not far from the spot where I saw Rider for the first time.

He pulled out my chair for me, and once the four of us were seated, Rowdy returned with four glasses; two filled with light blue Dew Drop, and the other two with a bright pink liquid (since Dew Drop was toxic to humans). Rowdy passed out the drinks before Grayson handed a glass to his mate, keeping his own in his hand.

“I’d like to make a toast,” Rider announced, holding his drink high above the table. “To an eternity of happiness with the best friends I could ask for-” he looked at me and added, “And the one who makes it worth living.”

Everyone cheered and clinked our glasses together before sipping (or chugging, in Rowdy’s case) the drinks in them. The pink liquid was sweet and fruity, and warmed my chest when I swallowed.

“This is delicious,” I told Rowdy, tapping a finger on the side of my cup.

He winked and replied, “I’ll bring you another one in a few minutes. Right now, my song is playing!” He gave a flirty look to Grayson and asked, “Want to come watch me dance on the bar?”

“Hell yes,” Grayson answered without delay, and gave Rowdy a slap on the ass when he turned away.

It was beautiful to see the two of them together; they were crazy about each other and perfectly in sync. Fate truly had paired them perfectly, just as she’d done with Ridge and Zane, and Rider and me.

It was exciting to know that Rider would always be crazy about me; that his feelings would never fade, and that his eyes would never wander. I was enough for him, forever.

Ridge leaned close to Zane and asked, “Will you dance with me?”

“Now that’s a silly question,” his mate answered, receiving a chuckle and a kiss on the cheek. The two of them placed their cups on the table before standing and taking a spot in the middle of the dance floor, wrapped in each other’s arms.

As if he heard my internal yearning, Rider placed his mouth by my ear and whispered, “Would you like to dance?”

“I’d love to, but I need to warn you; I’m not great at it.”

He chuckled, and his warm breath made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. “That makes two of us.”

I gulped down the last of my drink and stood up as Rider pulled out my chair. He took my hand and led me to an empty spot on the floor before wrapping his arms around my waist.
