With that, the topic swerves again, and soon, we’re discussing the ins and outs of various types of breast pumps. My man is into it, and I can tell Mason’s already put our conversation out of his mind. But still, I’ve known Elsa my whole life, and my feeling is that my mom’s up to no good … and that I couldn’t stop the impending disaster even if I tried.

MASON

I smile while glancing at my beautiful girl. Chelsea’s currently curled up on a sofa in the study, buried nose-deep in a cheesy romance novel that she’s been dying to read for the last few weeks. Okay, maybe I shouldn’t call it “cheesy” because I haven’t perused it myself, but judging from the bare-chested guy on the cover with the agonized look on his face, my guess is that cheesy is the right descriptor.

Still, it’s nice being here with her. The library is peaceful and calm, with the warm rays of the sun coming through large windows. Golden dust motes fly in the air, and I’m supposed to be getting work done, but instead, I’m having more fun just staring at my beautiful girl.

After all, Chelsea’s gorgeous and becoming even more so as her belly grows. She’s huge, lush, and looks ready to pop, and I love it. In fact, my dick jerks a bit while looking at her, and I’m tempted to go over at this very moment and bury my face between her legs.

But then, a knock on the door sounds, making us both jump.

“Come,” I call while sharing a puzzled glance with Chelsea. Who could it be? We’re not expecting anyone on this lazy afternoon. In answer, Keynes, our butler, opens the door and shoots me an apologetic smile.

“Sir, my apologies for disturbing you. A woman by the name of Elsa here. I believe she’s Chelsea’s mother?”

Chelsea and I exchange knowing looks. God, hopefully it isn’t the shrooms thing, although in my heart of hearts, I already suspect it is. Nonetheless, what can we do? Chelsea shrugs her shoulders and shoots me a rueful smile, so I nod.

“Please send her in. Thank you, Keynes.”

Once the butler leaves, I glance over at Chelsea again. The pretty brunette closes her book and sighs before struggling to get into an upright position.

“I wonder what Elsa wants? She’s never come to visit the big house before, so I can’t see why she would now.”

I nod.

“Maybe she just wants to see you since you’re getting further along in your pregnancy. Or she wants money for more shrooms? Or other psychedelics? Who knows?”

Chelsea merely rolls her eyes, but then there’s a knock and the door bursts open. Literally, it’s swinging on its hinges and a blast of air hits us as Elsa sweeps into the room dressed in a colorful, floaty caftan.

“Hi!” she trills, waggling her fingers at me while doing a sweep about the room, her robe billowing. “My, what a gorgeous view you have here!”

I stare because this is not the Elsa that I remember. The old Elsa was pale and thin, her blonde hair straggly and damaged. By contrast, this woman is completely different. The caftan is a short one, only going to mid-thigh, revealing a relatively toned, and even tan body. Plus, Elsa’s blonde hair has been done up in sexy curls, and she’s wearing makeup for the first time in a very long time–a full face too, judging from the bright lipstick and glittery eyeshadow. Most interesting, she’s put some weight back on so that the woman has curves, instead of being bone-thin.

“Hi Elsa,” I greet in a measured tone. “What a nice surprise.”

“Yes, it is, isn’t it?” she trills. “Life has been wonderful as of late, and I just wanted to say hello.”

“Hi Mom,” Chelsea greets from her position on the couch. “It’s nice to see you looking so well.”

Elsa spins about, surprise on her face.

“Oh you’re here! You took me by surprise, hiding in the shadows like that.”

Chelsea smiles ruefully.

“I’m not in the shadows, Mom. I’m right here in the sun. Plus, I’m huge right now, as you can tell, so it would be difficult for me to hide.”

“Well, you just took me by surprise, is what I mean,” Elsa sniffs, spinning a bit on the expensive rug. Is she high? I swear, I smell pot but then again, you never know.

Chelsea sighs.

“So Mom, why do we have the honor of your presence today? Has something exciting happened? You know, your grandchild is due any moment now.”

Elsa blinks a few times, staring at Chelsea’s belly, but then seems to remember.

“Oh right,” she says. “My grandchild. Goodness, is that really happening?”

“It is,” Chelsea replies in a semi-sarcastic tone while rubbing her belly. “He’s been around for thirty-five weeks now, so forty is just around the corner.”

Elsa blinks again, still looking stunned. But then she collects herself and waves her arms a bit.
