I fucking love my job.

So I told them until I get a hard-on at the thought of running for office, like I do every time I step into a courtroom, I’ll go to my grave as a defense attorney.

“I didn’t have time to let you know my schedule. My main focus is Jett and my career now.” Rachel’s voice goes up a notch, causing me to grit my teeth. I guess along with water, I should take some Advil.

A loud snort and a bored “Thanks, Mom” makes me stop right at the entrance. Christ, the daughter. I forgot about her.

“Oh please, you’re fucking nineteen. My job is done. Did you expect me to lie to you?”

“Well, since that’s what you usually do…” I can’t help but smirk at the sass coming out of the daughter’s mouth. Not that I blame her. Fucking snakes make better mothers than Rachel.

“Knock it off, Raven. I will not let you ruin things for me. Now go get dressed. Jett should be back—”

“Ruin things for you?” the daughter interrupts, her voice raspy as if she just woke up and rolled out of bed. And that’s when my cock decides it’s time to wake up.

Perfect.

“Look, clearly I cramp your style. So why don’t you just buy me the apartment in Manhattan, I’ll go back to New York now, and it will be like I was never here.”

Again, clever…

I adjust my erection to the other side before I enter, my headache completely forgotten, now replaced with a need to meet my future stepdaughter.

“No. Jett would think it’s weird,” Rachel snaps.

A flash of dark hair and laughter is all I see and hear as I enter. Rachel’s back impedes my view.

“Wait. Let me get this straight. You want me around because your boyfriend needs to think you’re actually a good mother?”

“He’s my fiancé,” Rachel corrects her. “And I’m done discussing this. You’ll stay the summer. Now, I have to pack and go to New York. I have to hold Courtney’s hand. She’s reinventing herself. I have her scheduled to do The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and Live with Kelly and Ryan this week.” Rachel moves to the refrigerator.

And fuck me…

Long legs greet me. The girl is leaning her elbows on my island holding a cup of coffee in nothing but a white T-shirt that barely covers her ass. Her long dark hair is swept over to the side allowing me to see her perfect profile.

My eyes travel the length of her. What the fuck? I do not like being surprised and this… Jesus, there’s no way she came out of Rachel.

The refrigerator shuts with a snap, forcing my eyes to leave our visiting Lolita and focus on Rachel who’s pouring creamer into her coffee, her vibe not happy. Not that mine’s any better, but it’s for completely different reasons. I’m starting to piece together that the reason my fiancée has never talked about her daughter is because she’s jealous of her.

Which is beyond screwed up, but then again, Rachel is fucked up…

“Oh, Jett. I was just telling Raven that I have to go to New York for work. Now, don’t worry. She has a boyfriend, so I’m assuming she’ll stay with him.” Her voice makes her sound like she’s talking about a kindergartner.

I cock my head, and for a split second I visualize myself beating the shit out of the poor soul who happens to think he can touch my Lolita.

“Oh my God,” Raven hisses. Her eyes widen as she bolts straight up. The coffee mug she was holding clinks on the marble, but it’s her tits that hold my attention. The white tee she wears clings to them, causing my eyes to narrow as she breathes in and out.

“Pleasure to meet you, Raven.” I grin at her as I walk in and hold out my hand, watching her nipples harden as if they know it’s only a short amount of time before I bite and suck on them.

She looks down at my extended hand, then straight up into my eyes.

And time stops.

Neither of us blinks as I drown in the deep blue pools of her eyes.

Sapphires.

She needs to have them spilling all over her, running down her tits in a sparkling river of gems.

The fuck am I doing?

She licks her lips, and I’m reminded that we are not the only ones in the room, nor has she taken my hand.

“I’m Jett, but you can call me Mr. Powers.”

Her smirk fades and eyes narrow. Now that I stand over her, she’s smaller than I originally thought.

“Nice to meet you,” she says in a rush, taking a step back as her cheeks pinken. Again, I’m struck at just how stunning she is.

“Raven.” Rachel sets down her coffee. “Shake Mr. Powers’s hand. What’s wrong with you?”

Raven’s eyes flash to her mother’s, then back to mine. I cock my head and flash her a smile as she purses her lips, then goes to shake my hand. Turning, I walk to the refrigerator saying over my shoulder, “I work all the time, so the house is yours. Just no parties, please.”
