With that, the gorgeous playboy turns and walks us towards the door, but before we make it out of the club, he pulls me close again for a deep, sensuous kiss. I look into his eyes and smile with satisfaction, my heart pounding. Tonight couldn’t have gone better, and I’m so happy that I spent it with Bruce Wilshire.

When I first came up with my crazy revenge scheme, I didn’t expect it to lead anywhere. After all, Bruce Wilshire is known as a playboy who loves ‘em and leaves ‘em. He doesn’t actually date women, much less cuddle a plush girl who’s got a good deal of junk in the trunk. As a result, I didn’t have any expectations after our dirty encounter at that club, but I’m ridiculously happy to say that I’ve been wrong, and that life often brings surprises.

After all, for the past three months, I’ve been dating Bruce Wilshire, and I mean real dating, and not just having fun in the sack. In fact, we’ve rarely spent a night apart. During the day we both have work to do, and because we both work for the Wilshire, we keep things professional at the hotel. In fact, we rarely see each other during business hours, which makes sense since I’m in reception whereas he’s upstairs with management.

As a result, our paths don’t cross and that’s a good thing because I don’t want people to know. Although most folks are aware of our night at Nostradamus, thanks to Carl and Cindy and their big mouths, Bruce and I basically pretend we don’t know each other at work. The last thing we need is adding fuel to the gossip queens around here, and besides, this is personal. What we do is private, and not the business of anyone else.

But at night, it’s a completely different ball game. I spend most of my evenings with Bruce in his penthouse suite on the top floor of the hotel. In fact, I’m there so often now that I have my own side of the closet, and my own drawer for my things in the bathroom. It’s nice actually, to see my shampoos and lotions lined up next to his aftershave and cologne, and our closet looks very domestic with his suits hanging next to my skirts and blouses.

Plus, I can’t deny that staying in the penthouse has its perks because the place is at least four times the size of my apartment. The master en suite is equipped with a jacuzzi that I’m pretty sure I’m addicted to. And then there’s my favorite feature—the kitchen. It’s set up for a professional chef with a six burner gas stove, two in-wall ovens, and a built-in flat cooktop. It’s pure heaven, and because I love to cook, I’ve spent quite a few of our nights together preparing delicious meals. Bruce says he loves it, although we could easily eat in one of the hotel restaurants, or even order room-service if we feel like it.

But this morning, I’m off work, so I’m taking my time getting out of bed. Bruce is still sleeping and I love how peaceful he looks at rest. Even though he has a job with enormous responsibilities, he seems to manage it quite well. Yet, when the billionaire’s sleeping, the brackets around his mouth fade a bit and he seems more at ease. He’s gorgeous, of course, with that black hair ruffled on the pillow and a hand carelessly thrown across his tanned chest.

Unable to lie in bed with him without touching him, I reach up and softly comb my fingers through his ebony strands. A small smile lifts the corners of his mouth and I know he’s no longer asleep. Smiling, I lean in and press my lips to his. “How long have you been awake?” I whisper against his mouth.

His smile grows, blue eyes twinkling. “Long enough to feel you ogling me while I lay here defenseless.”

“You’re anything but defenseless,” I say with a laugh.

I’m met with his bright blue gaze, and it’s so striking it makes my heart stutter. “Against you, I’m as defenseless as they come,” he murmurs, trailing one big hand over my hip.

I’m speechless as we stare into each other’s eyes. I know what it took for him to admit that. If there is one thing I’ve learned about Bruce Wilshire these last three months, it’s that he doesn’t like to let people see him vulnerable. Yet, with me, the billionaire’s different. He seems to let go somewhat, and to allow his walls to come down to reveal the man within. It warms my heart to know this, and makes me adore him even more.

A moment later, Bruce grins again and rolls on top of me with his elbows planted on either side of my face. He kisses up each side of my neck, then moves his mouth to mine, capturing my lips in a deep, slow liplock. When he pulls himself back, we’re both breathing a little heavier.
