BoyToy5600: Basically, yes. You only live once, Words. I don’t know why, but obviously this skinny-dipping thing is important to you. If you don’t do it, you’ll regret it forever. Plus, who knows? Maybe it’ll make your man fall madly in love with you, and then you’ll have a cute story about how you got together.

I couldn’t stop thinking about what BoyToy said. He was more right than he knew. I’d spent the last eight years regretting not meeting up with MakeYouSmile and skinny-dipping with him. I didn’t know who he was. I’d never be able to get that night back, and I would spend the rest of my life wondering what if.

With Ronan I could maybe have something real, and if not, at least this time I would have tried. At least this time I wouldn’t chicken out.

I was going to do this.

I would ask Ronan out, then see if he wanted to do some naked swimming with me. I mean, I knew all about his sex life because of the podcast. Not that he gave specifics about people, but I knew he was into exploring and following his desires and all that. Skinny-dipping was nothing to someone like him. He’d probably laugh that I was stressing out so much about it, and…oh God, what if he laughed at me? That was honestly a real possibility.

Calm down. You’re freaking out for no reason.

Because well…while maybe it was something to chuckle at, I didn’t think Ronan was the kind of man who would. He was too kind, too supportive of others. And I really needed to stop listening to his podcast and act like that meant I knew him.

So yes, I was going to do this. The whole day at the library, I kept thinking about that night when I was going to ask Ronan on a date. I had to keep pumping myself up so I’d do it.

I went home and showered after work, then packed up my things to head to Extra Shot. I had to put a new notebook in my bag because I’d filled the last one. I always did my plotting and brainstorming with paper and pen.

On the walk there, I again thought about what BoyToy had said, his words mixing with all my old thoughts about MakeYouSmile. I’d lost my chance with him all those years ago, and BoyToy was right. I needed to get my shit together, or I’d have another regret. Ronan was the perfect man to ask to go skinny-dipping with me.

My table was available when I got to Extra Shot. I didn’t see Ronan right away. Maybe he was off? But I was a crazy stalker and knew his schedule, so he shouldn’t be.

I ordered, then sat down and waited. How did one man ask another man to go skinny-dipping with him? Oh, yeah. A date. I should start with a date, and holy hell, what made me think I could ask Ronan Winters on a date?

“My favorite customer is back,” he said, breaking through my internal freak-out.

I looked up at him. Ronan’s arms were crossed. God, he had sexy arms. It looked like he spent his time doing manual labor instead of hitting the gym.

I took my glasses off and chewed the end.

“Are you flirting with me, Freckles?” he asked with a grin. “Because that is so damn cute. I love the glasses thing.”

He loved it…which basically meant he would want to do some naked swimming with me. The logic totally made sense.

“Willyougoonadatewithme?”

“Huh?”

Huh was right. I had no idea what I’d just said, only I did, and I shouldn’t have said it there, in the middle of his shift, but…he wasn’t wearing his Extra Shot shirt.

“Never mind.” This was stupid. What in the hell had made me think Ronan Winters would want to go on a dinner/skinny-dipping date with me?

“Yes,” Ronan said.

“Excuse me?” I put my glasses back on.

“Yes, I’d love to go on a date with you. Isn’t that what you asked?”

“You would? Are you sure?” I wouldn’t want to go on a date with me if I were him.

He chuckled. “Yeah, I would. In fact, I’m free right now if you’re not busy plotting world domination on your laptop. I’m convinced that’s what you’re doing, by the way.”

“But today is your workday. I’m not stalking you, I swear. I just…come here enough that I’ve learned your schedule.”

“It changed this week.”

“Are you sure?” I asked again.

“That I’m not currently working? Yes.”

“No, that you want to go on a date with me.”

“Yes, I absolutely want to go on a date with you.”

“I absolutely want to go on a date with you too,” I replied. “Clearly, since I asked.”

“So fucking cute.” He grinned at me like maybe he really meant the words.

“What do you want to do?”

“Whatever you want. You’re the one who asked me out. And I’ll tell you a secret. You beat me to it. I eventually planned to ask you.”
