Suddenly it’s hard not to laugh. “So, you’re telling me that in the five hours you’ve spent with Eve, she has confessed to being an eighteen-year-old virgin who can barely read and she’s a kleptomaniac?” This time I do laugh. “Well, I see why you wanted Edge out of the room.”

“Whatever, Blade. You are going to be sorry.”

“I’m already sorry! I woke up sorry.” She slinks into the chair and I feel guilty for screaming at her. It’s like yelling at your sister.

“Hey Prez, we have a situation.” Ox sticks his head in. It’s got to be bad if he’s not knocking.

“What?” I snap, a slither of unease going up my spine. My hand goes for my blade in my boot.

“It’s your… it’s Eve.” I’m out the door in seconds, Dolly trailing behind us.

“What happened?” My heart pounds in my temples, the adrenaline like a drug filling my veins.

“Well, this.” He pushes open the kitchen door. Eve stands in the middle of the room, her honey hair cascading over her shoulders. Her face has never looked more beautiful. Unfortunately, she holds a giant butcher knife on Edge, Axel, and a bleeding Dewey.

Badass rings in my head. My primal urge to mate with her almost distracts me from the scene in front of me.

“What the fuck is going on in here?”

She whirls to me, her hand steady as she hisses, “This pig tried to kiss me,” and points to Dewey. His father, Gunner, is one of the old timers. Dewey’s a prospect, clearly drunk and in need of stiches if his bleeding stomach feels as bad as it looks.

“She stabbed me,” he wails, clutching his stomach.

“Wow, Eve, I had no idea you were so good with a knife,” Dolly chimes in from behind me.

“Angel.” I hold my hands up. “Put the knife down, baby. Nobody is going to hurt you.”

“Really? I can’t even walk down the hallway without your guys saying gross things. And this guy tried to kiss me and rubbed his disgusting dick on me.” She points the sharp knife at Dewey, who backs into Edge.

“Hey Eve?” Dolly chimes in over my shoulder. “Can you go ahead and slice off Edge’s penis? He’s used it enough.”

I turn and give her an eye. She shrugs. “Just saying.”

“Fuck you, Dolly.” Edge throws his hands up and stomps out.

“Not gonna happen, ever again,” she sings after him.

I sigh and rub the back of my neck looking at Axel who stands with his arms crossed, his face twisted in concern.

“Well… I have to get up early, and you seem to have your hands full. So, I’m gonna bounce.” Dolly’s smiling face makes me grit my teeth. “And Eve? Welcome to the family.” She slams the door as she leaves.

“Dewey?” He looks up, his face full of pain and remorse.

“Did you touch what’s mine?” I love Dewey… have a huge soft spot for him. But he can’t touch my woman. I don’t care if he is slightly on the dull side of normal.

“I didn’t know. You have to believe me. I thought you were with Crystal,” he wails again and holds up a bloody hand at Eve. “And she’s so beautiful, she smells good and—”

“She’s mine, Dewey. You fucked up. But you’re bleeding all over Amy’s kitchen. I guess we should find someone to stitch you up. Is Doc here yet?” My gaze shifts to Axel who stares at Eve almost baffled.

“I don’t know. I’ve been making sure Dewey didn’t get sliced up more from your wildcat.”

I turn to Eve. “For fuck’s sake, put the knife down. I promise you’re safe, and I’m gonna take care of this shit now.” I grab her wrist and twist slightly watching the large knife clank to the floor. I pull her head tight to my chest holding her still.

“I seem to remember warning you what I would do if you ever pulled a knife on me again.” She tries to move. But I squeeze her tight feeling her breasts on my chest.

“I didn’t pull a knife on you—I pulled it on him.” We both glance at a distressed and bleeding Dewey.

“Christ, he’s slow, Eve.” Her eyes grow huge and before she can talk, I add, “He should know better. I agree.”

I glance at Axel, who raises a dark eyebrow at me. “Dewey, I want to see you tomorrow morning.”

“Sure thing, Prez. And I’m sorry. I just wanted a pretty girl.”

I nod. “Go with Axel, and see if Doc is here. He’ll stitch you up.”

“That’s it? I thought you said no one would touch me but you?” she taunts, her eyes shooting blue daggers at me.

“I think you stabbing him in the gut is enough since he didn’t hurt you.” I take her arm and drag her to the front door, ignoring the stunned faces as we all pass by. AC/DC is blasting and it’s not quite dark yet. The large bonfire and the drinking and debauchery have begun. I shake my head at Crystal who starts to come over. She stops but glares at me. What is with the women in my life tonight?
