The priest declares to everyone that McKenzie and Charlie are now husband and wife and that he may now kiss the bride. He does, and a cheer erupts from the crowd as they kiss for the first time as a married couple.

I’m clapping too and am genuinely happy for my friend, but all I can think about is getting out of here so I can spend time with my love. Where will I buy Allie’s engagement ring? What will it look like? Where will I propose to her? I don’t know, but what I do know is that it can’t happen soon enough!

Four years later…

* * *

I can hear music playing as I step into the house. I kick off my boots at the front door and make my way into the kitchen, following the scent of a roast with vegetables that I know my wonderful wife is cooking for tonight. Years ago, I made a joke about her doing womanly duties for me, but that turned out to be not much of a joke.

She cooks, she cleans, she’s gorgeous and incredible in bed, and today being our anniversary, she’s making my favorite meal for me.

I step into the kitchen and find her with her back to me, facing the stove, wearing a gorgeous set of pink lingerie and heels. She hasn’t picked up on me being home yet, so I sneak up quietly behind her.

She must really love this song, as she’s dancing gently, swinging her hips side to side in a way that gets me immediately hard. It’s been four years, and my lust for Allie has only grown. I don’t care what anyone says about marriages causing couples’ sex life to dry up. The complete opposite has happened for us.

I’m obsessed with her. She’s on my mind constantly. When I’m in her presence, I have to have at least one hand on her—whether it’s up her shirt or down her pants. And when I’m not around her, I’m either playing back the naughty images I have of her in my mind or scrolling through the thousands I have of her on my phone.

“Hey you,” I whisper as I grab two nice handfuls of her juicy bottom.

Allie yelps, startled, and drops the spatula she was using to stir the vegetables. She whirls, and I snatch her into my arms. I grab more of her ass. I’m so horny over her. I snarl and jokingly snarl as I pretend to gobble up the side of her neck, working my way toward her lips.

“Baby!” She giggles. “You scared me!”

“How are you, my beautiful wife?” I growl. “You look extra sexy tonight. And whatever you’re cooking smells delicious.”

“Me?” she asks playfully. “I look sexy?”

“You sure do,” I play back, sucking her earlobe, which I know just drives her crazy, and this time causes her back to arch and her eyes to close as she lets out a soft moan.

“You know what I’m making for my wonderful husband,” she says. “His favorite meal for our anniversary.”

I smile as I press my lips to her neck and kiss up her jaw. Since I married this woman, my entire life has become one tremendous state of bliss. It’s the only way to describe it. “You are an angel, you know that?” I ask, kissing her. “But I should go shower. I’m still all sweaty and greasy from the shop.”

I start to put her down, but she grabs me tightly with both arms and legs and stops me. “No, don’t,” she says, shaking her head. “I like you when you’re all sweaty and greasy and manly.”

She’s smiling as she says this, radiating like she does in that way that goes straight to my core. There’s no doubt in my mind that Allie and I were meant for each other. That I’m the only man she was ever meant for, and that even if it weren’t for McKenzie’s little scheme that brought us together, the universe would have brought us together in some other way. I truly believe that.

Our life together is just too perfect.

I proposed to her a month after McKenzie’s wedding. In all honesty, I wanted to propose even earlier, but it took me that long to find the right ring, and to plan things just right. And for the love of my life, I wanted to make sure things were just right.

Part of me wanted to propose outside of the garage where we first “met” when Allie was just a girl—just for a bit of a joke—but I thought better of that. I wanted to give her something better than just a joke that made her laugh. I wanted to give her something beautiful and magical that she would remember forever.

So knowing her love for woodworking, I told her I found us a creative date night idea, and we took a couples woodworking class where we built a small box together. We still keep it in the living room to this day. We both had a blast, and afterwards I took her to dinner by the water at her favorite restaurant where I showed her the even smaller box that I’d had an instructor show me how to build, in which I’d placed the ring I’d bought for her.
