For Eternity.

Epilogue

CRANE

FIFTEEN YEARS LATER

“Thank goodness this one is not like the last one.” I turn and look at my soulmate, watching as she spreads her glorious wings, and welcomes another soul into Heaven from the scene of another accident. Once the soul has been transported, which we only know has been successful by the glow of her halo, I slam my staph on the ground and collect the other soul that is not going to the Pearly Gates.

“I know my love. I could not handle watching you cry for days after. Again.” She smiles and wraps her arms around me. Many collections ago, we had to take a husband and wife. Only they were not going to the same place and my sweet, sweet girl cried endlessly for days, because she couldn’t imagine not being with me for Eternity. When I say it damn near broke me, I was moments from knocking on the door of the elder council and telling them we will not do this anymore. The thing is, we don’t get a choice and to be disruptive, as they call it, would have been turmoil in itself.

“It wasn’t that bad,” she says, nudging me in the side.

“It absolutely was.” she laughs and then jumps on my back as we transport back to the headquarters. Of course, we each have the capability, but she likes to ride me. In more than one way.

Once we have given our report and checked in to make sure there were no more assignments for the night, we walk into the nursery and collect our children. Ten to be exact. Yes. We have ten babies. Well, we have kids from ages ten to one year old. What? When your soulmate's pussy is going to be teenage virgin tight for all of Eternity, how in Hell am I not supposed to breed her?

Once we get our brood into our part of the compound and spend time playing with them, we finally get them down to bed. Patting the spot beside me, I hold her in my arms and kiss her head. “How are you feeling?” I ask, knowing that being a collector often drains much of her energy.

“Mmm. Good. Tired but good. But, I guess it can be expected. Especially for the next nine months.” Is she saying? I lift my head and look at her, so happy and in awe of her strength, that words fail me.

“Are you..?” She laughs and kisses me before pulling back and nodding her head.

“Yes. You did it again.” she tells me, holding my hand to her stomach. I can’t contain my absolute joy. Falling to my knees, I kiss her belly and then her lips.

“I love you so much, little Angel. You turned my heart of coal to something that beats and feels. And it only beats for you and our little ones.”

“I know, my master, my lover and my heart. You showed me what a true partner, friend and soulmate is. You have given me something I never thought I would have. Family and an afterlife to reach for. I love you, Crane.”
