“Did you need something, or did you just come in here to ogle my ass?” Gabriel panted.

Justin leaned his shoulder against the open doorway and grinned. “You know, G Love, this is helping to remind me that there are some benefits to living with another person.”

“And I’m just as happy to remind you of all the drawbacks,” Gabriel grumbled. He punched a couple of buttons on the screen, slowing the machine down to a walk. “Did you need something?”

Justin briefly considered needling the man some more but changed his mind. There was no reason to piss Gabriel off already. They’d be stuck together for a while. Better they didn’t want to kill each other in the first twenty-four hours of living together.

“I was thinking about our problem with the pro,” Justin started, his voice turning serious.

“The one who got rid of the two scientists?”

Justin hummed his agreement. “We’re assuming this is the same person as the one who trashed your room and put the tracking device in your stuff.”

Gabriel stopped the treadmill and climbed off. He grabbed the towel and wiped the sweat off his face and neck, but Justin didn’t miss that he also hadn’t turned to face him. Justin could only see the side of his face and there was something dark lurking in his features.

“True?” Justin prodded.

“True, though there is a slim chance that the person who was in my room has nothing to do with this job,” Gabriel admitted in a low voice.

“Any way you can confirm one way or the other if it is?”

Gabriel held perfectly still for a second and then nodded. “Yes. I can make a couple of phone calls.” He twisted the towel in both hands and then turned to face Justin. “For what it’s worth, the chances are slim, but I will find out for sure.”

“Thanks. I did have another idea of who the culprit might be. Did Marilyn mention to you if this contract had a period of exclusivity before going wide?”

Gabriel moved over to a weight bench and placed his legs on either side of it and sat. “No, and if you’re going to be in here for a moment, spot me.”

Justin grinned as he pushed off the doorway and moved to stand near Gabriel’s head while the other man lifted the weights up off the support. A quick glance at the weight showed that he was bench-pressing only one hundred and twenty-five pounds, but it was that kind of weight with high reps that gave Gabriel all those long, sexy muscles and tight definition.

He stood ready while Gabriel started on his reps, making sure a weight didn’t slip or he didn’t suffer from a muscle spasm and crush himself.

“So, you think this might be competition?” Gabriel prodded, speaking between clenched teeth.

“I think it’s a possibility. I’ve got a text in with Marilyn now to see if this contract is exclusive or if she thinks there’s a chance of the client screwing us.”

“Wouldn’t be the first time I had a client get impatient,” Gabriel grumbled. “Bastards tell you there’s time. No rush. Do the job right. But forty-eight fucking hours later, the city is swarming with would-be assassins who don’t know their ass from a Sig Sauer P365.”

When the bar was fully extended over Gabriel’s head, Justin caught it before Gabriel could lower it again and looked down at him. “You’ve got to stop being so damn sexy, G Love.”

“Gabriel or Prescott,” Gabriel corrected with a glare. He gave the bar a tiny tug to get Justin to release it again.

“You’re no fun, G. But back to the point, there’s a chance something happened to make the client act hasty. Some news from the FDA.”

“Another scientist who’s threatening to reveal their dirty secrets,” Gabriel added as he lowered the weight to his chest and pushed it upward again.

“It’s an avenue to search. I’ve got facial recognition running through records of people who moved through the Cincinnati airport in the past couple of months. Just to see if I get any interesting hits. It might give us a lead on who killed the scientists or who could be hassling us.”

“Do you have the same access to the Lexington and Indianapolis airports?”

“Not currently, but I think I can get it.”

Gabriel grunted. “I’d check them. I didn’t fly into the Cincinnati airport since I was going to be working in the area.”

“I guess it’s a good thing most assassins aren’t as smart as you.”

“Flattery…will not…get you…in my pants,” Gabriel growled as he lifted the bar one last time before Justin helped him place it on the support.

Justin leaned over the bar to look down at Gabriel, all too aware that the man’s head was right in front of his groin. “Yes, but will it get you into my pants?”

Gabriel’s eyes narrowed and his mouth pressed into a hard line in warning.
