“I just packed all that.”

“Yeah, well, you’re not leaving.”

She watches me as I stuff her things into a drawer. She moves beside me and puts her hand on my arm. “Stop, Huddy. Talk to me.”

“What do you want to talk about? If it has anything to do with you leaving me, then I’m not talking about it.”

She crosses her arms over her chest. “I can’t just live here forever.”

Her words are like a sucker punch right in the gut. My voice cracks with emotion. “Why can’t you?”

She stutters the words out. “Why can’t I? Well, I guess there are a bunch of reasons. This was supposed to be temporary. You have a home and a life, and I’m sure you’re tired of me interfering with that.”

“You’re not interfering with anything. You are my home… you are my life.”

Speechless, her mouth falls open. “What?”

She looks so unsure. I drop the shirts in the drawer. It’s so full I can’t shut it, but I turn away and hold on to her. “Ellie, I should have told you this before now. I want you to stay here with me. I want you to sleep in that bed with me every night.”

She opens her mouth, but I stop her. “Wait, let me finish. I’ve fucked up. I should have told you all this, and I didn’t. I thought I was giving you time, hoping that you were adjusting to life here with me, but I should have told you. You know how you keep asking me about the bedroom upstairs, the one you haven’t designed yet?”

She nods her head. “Yeah…”

“At first, I thought I wanted it to be a nursery, but there’s no way we could have our baby all the way upstairs and us down here. So then I thought we should move my office upstairs so the nursery could be down here, close to us.”

“Uh, you want to have a baby with me?”

I lean down and kiss her forehead. “I want to do everything with you. I love you, Ellie. I want you in my life. Always.”

Her eyes light up. I see the hope build on her face, and then just as fast, the light goes out, and in its place is worry. “Huddy, I don’t—”

I cut her off. “So help me Ellie, don’t you dare say you don’t love me too. I know you do. The way you look at me, the little things you do for me, the way your breath hitches when I touch you… you love me.”

“I do. I do love you, but are you sure this is a good idea? Maybe we should date for a while to make sure I’m what you want.”

I pull her into my arms. My cock is hard, pressed into her belly, and I try to ignore it. “I already know exactly what I want, and that’s you. You’re mine now, and you’ll be mine tomorrow. I love you, Ellie. Forever.” I lean my forehead against hers and groan. “Fuck, I wish I had a ring.”

She slides her arms around my neck and curls her fingers through the hair at the base of my neck. “It’s okay. We don’t have to rush anything.”

I smile and help her lie down on the bed. I hover over her, taking in her beautiful smile and the way her eyes light up as she looks at me. “Oh, I'm getting you a ring. The next time you have your picture taken with a cowboy, he’s going to know you’re mine. Everyone’s going to know you’re mine.”

She reaches for the front of my shirt and pulls it up my body.

I straighten just long enough to help her get it off before I hover over her again. Her hands trail up and down my chest. “I’m good with that.”

I search her eyes. “Good with what? Good with being mine? Good with being my wife? Good with being the mother to our son or daughter?”

She loops her hands at my neck and pulls me down until most of my weight is on her. “I’m good with all that, Huddy. I want it all with you.”

I kiss her because I can’t hold back anymore. Being this close to her makes it hard not to have my mouth on her. “I love you, Ellie.”

She pushes me to my back, and I go willingly. She climbs on top of me and straddles my waist. “I love you too, Huddy, and since you don’t get your stitches out until next week, I’m thinking that I need to take care of you right now.”

She starts at my mouth and makes her way down my body, kissing me everywhere along the way. As she kisses my navel, she’s undoing the button on my jeans. I lift my hips so she can take them down my legs. She leans over me, smiling appreciatively. “Your turn,” I tell her.
