Wyatt leaned over and whispered into my ear, “Is it just me, or are those two eye-fucking the hell out of each other?”

Slapping him on the stomach, I replied, “Stop it.”

When I turned back to my best friend, my eyes widened as I saw her cheeks blush slightly. “Michelle, let me introduce you to Zeb Miller. Zeb is in my English Lit class and also plays with Wyatt on the football team. Zeb, Michelle is my best friend from high school. She transferred from UT.”

Zeb reached his hand out for Michelle’s. “It’s a pleasure to meet you, Michelle. You transferred from UT, huh?”

With a wider smile and a lick of her lips, Michelle replied, “I did. I’m actually sharing Skylar’s place with her while I try to decide if I’m going to stay here at Baylor or not.”

It wasn’t lost on me that Zeb hadn’t let go of Michelle’s hand yet. Mitch would be freaking the hell out if he were here to witness this exchange.

“Well, if you need any help with getting around or anything, just let me know. I’d be happy to show you around.”

Lifting her brows, Michelle tilted her head. “How very sweet of you. I wouldn’t mind a tour of the campus. Sky’s been busy studying, so we haven’t had much of a chance to look around.”

My mouth dropped open as I stared at Michelle. Wyatt and I had given her a full tour the other day.

“How about now?” Zeb asked. Turning to Wyatt and me, Zeb said, “I mean, if y’all don’t mind?”

“We don’t mind at all,” Wyatt said a little too quickly.

I sat up a bit more as I watched Michelle stand and put her jacket on. “Well, wait. Michelle, you don’t know how to get back to my apartment.”

She winked. “I have the address, and I’m sure Zeb wouldn’t mind swinging me home. Would you?”

Oh. My. God. Is she batting her eyelashes at him?

“No! I don’t mind at all. I’d be happy to.”

Glancing back at me, Michelle said, “There. It’s all good. I’ll see you in a bit. Later, Wyatt.”

Wyatt lifted his hand and replied, “Have fun!”

Standing, I went to call for Michelle, but Wyatt pulled me back down.

“Sky, let her go.”

“What? She doesn’t even know him, Wyatt. You said yourself, the guy was a man-whore.”

Laughing, Wyatt shook his head. “That’s when I thought he was interested in you. Now that he’s got his eyes on someone else, he’s an okay dude.”

I hit him on the chest. “That is terrible! Wyatt, Michelle is my best friend, and I just let her go off with a stranger.”

“Zeb? You know him, and I know him. I highly doubt anything will happen.”

My thumb came up to my mouth where I promptly chewed on the nail. “I don’t know. She seems awfully ready to move on from Mitch. Like she’s looking for…for…”

“A rebound fuck?”

Jerking my head to Wyatt, I gasped. “Oh my gosh, you don’t think she would sleep with Zeb, do you?”

Wyatt tossed his head back and laughed. “Hell yes, I think she would. One, it would be a way for her to get back at Mitch. Two, did you see the way they were looking at each other? Hell, even I could see their immediate draw to one another. Let her have a bit of fun, Skylar. It might even do her good to date a few guys. Get it out of her system.”

My heart ached in my chest. “But Mitch—”

“Mitch wasn’t thinking about Michelle when he cheated.”

“I know, but he said he wasn’t dating anyone. His heart is broken.”

Wyatt placed his finger on my chin and brought my eyes to his. “And whose fault is that? Honestly, Sky, you can’t expect Michelle to just sit and pine over Mitch, can you? He hurt her and broke her trust. Maybe what they both need is to see other people.”

My eyebrows drew tightly together.

Before I had a chance to say anything, Wyatt placed his finger over my lips. “Stop thinking like that.”

“Like what?” I muttered against his finger.

“We don’t have anything to get out of our system, Sky. I love you, and I want to spend the rest of my life with you. I know that in the deepest part of my heart.”

Feeling the uneasiness melt away, I smiled. “I know it, too. I love you, too.”

His hand slid behind my neck, drawing our lips closer together. The kiss was soft and sweet. If we weren’t in a coffee shop, I was positive it would turn to more of a heated exchange.

“Now, let’s get you ready for that last final. I’m ready to head home to get some of my mom’s home cooking.”

“You’re not going to tell me what y’all did?”

Michelle spun around, her hands now firmly on her hips. “Sky, if this is going to be weird, me living here and possibly dating guys, then we need to decide if being roommates is going to work.”
