I shook my head. “She just decided she wanted to try it?”

“She did. And she talked nonstop, Sky. I don’t think I’ve heard that girl utter more than six words to me at one given time. All it took was me telling her about the first time you rode an elephant on our honeymoon in Africa. She was totally captivated by the story.”

Laughing, I said, “I never thought about telling any of the kids that story.”

“Me neither. But I could tell she was feeling nervous, so I tried to think of something that she could relate to and that would make her laugh. I could almost see her fear slipping from her face the second Mo took those first steps with her on him.”

My eyes filled with tears. “Do you know how huge this is? Her walls are beginning to fall. And in just a few short weeks. How amazing is this?”

“It’s wonderful, angel. She reminds me so much of you.”

Wiping my tears away, I asked, “What were you saying when you walked up, and she was laughing?”

“She asked if I was scared about becoming a parent.”

Wyatt placed his hands on my stomach. The baby decided right then to kick.

“She did?”

He nodded. “Yep. She asked if I was worried about being a dad. I told her I was nervous, but what I was scared of was you making me change a diaper.”

Laughing, I pushed his shoulder, causing him to lose his balance for a quick second.

“Do you know what she said?”

I shook my head. “What did she say?”

“She offered to show me how to change a diaper since she has a baby brother.”

My hand covered my mouth, and I let my emotions go. Wyatt pulled me against his body and held me while I cried.

“What you do for these kids every single day amazes me, Sky. I’ve never been so proud of you.”

Glancing up, I managed a smile. “I couldn’t do it without you.”

Wyatt wrapped his arm around me as we headed toward the barn. “You’re my rock, Sky.”

As we walked into the barn, we heard Mitch talking. I smiled as I watched Candace brushing Mo while Michelle cleaned out his hooves.

Mitch was standing next to them. “Just give it a chance.”

Candace giggled, and Wyatt squeezed my shoulder.

“There is no way I’m putting ketchup on my mac and cheese, Mitch.”

“Why won’t you try it?”

With a frustrated sigh, Michelle stood. “What is your obsession with ketchup lately?”

Mitch shrugged. “I don’t know. Maybe I have some kind of deficiency in something?”

“Common sense?” Michelle asked while placing her hand on her hip and giving Mitch a smirk.

“If you would just taste it.”

Michelle shook her head. “No.”

“Why?”

Turning to Candace, Michelle said, “Stick with horses, Candace.”

She nodded. “But it does sound kind of good.”

Michelle’s mouth dropped open. “Please don’t tell me you’re going to try it.”

With a shrug, Candace smiled. “I might.”

“Ugh,” Michelle said as she lifted Mo’s other hoof.

“See? If Candace is willing to give it a go, why won’t you?”

Michelle put Mo’s hoof down and turned to Mitch. “I won’t try it because I’m pregnant, and I don’t really want to throw up.”

I gasped, as did Candace.

“You’re pregnant!” I screamed out while Michelle stared at Mitch.

“Oh, man. This is fixin’ to get good,” Wyatt said.

Turning to him, I asked, “I know! We’re going to have a niece or nephew!”

Wyatt laughed. “No! That!” He pointed in Mitch’s direction.

I spun around and looked at my brother. “Oh no.”

“Mitch? Baby, are you okay?” Michelle asked as she walked toward him.

“Wyatt,” I said.

He quickly made his way around me and over to Mitch. Two seconds later, Mitch was dropping to the ground, and Wyatt caught him.

I covered my mouth in an attempt to hide my laughter. Candace busted out laughing.

Michelle bent down. Snapping her fingers in front of his face, she called out his name, “Mitch! Hello? Mitch?” With a sigh, Michelle asked, “What do you think he’ll do when I tell him we’re having twins?”

Wyatt lost it, laughing, and said, “Oh, please let me film that. I beg you!”

I couldn’t believe my ears. They were having twins. Our kids would all grow up together.

Candace wore a huge smile on her face. I hadn’t seen her smile this much since she started coming here.

Michelle stood and winked at Wyatt. “I think we can arrange that for a small price.”

“Anything. You name it.”

“Keep him away from ketchup during this pregnancy.”

Wyatt shook Michelle’s hand. “Deal.”

Clapping her hands, Michelle turned back to Candace. “All right, sweetie, let’s go give this big guy some oats.”

Candace glanced down at Mitch, who was now waking up. “Will Mr. Woods be okay?”

Michelle stepped over Mitch. “Oh, my sweet girl. I have so much to teach you. So much.”

Candace covered her mouth and giggled as she followed Michelle and Mo down to his stall.

Rubbing his neck, Mitch stood. “What happened?”
