Today, she peers at me, arching a brow as I desperately try and swallow the heat from my face.

“You look… different.”

I swallow, trying to keep a neutral face, which is a little hard to do when all I can think of is replays of Griff bending me over a desk and fucking me silly with that big gorgeous cock.

“Oh?”

“Yeah.”

I shrug as she pushes her dark hair back from her face and tucks it behind her ears.

“I mean, you’re flushed.”

I smile weakly.

“No, just excited for practice.”

A smug smirk crosses her lips as that brow arches again.

“Right.”

I smile again, trying to brush it off as I take my trumpet out of its case and start to warm it up as Professor Mendehlson, our orchestra conductor, sets up his sheet music at the front of the stage facing us.

“Heard a rumor about you, ya know.”

I swallow, biting my lip before I turn back to Ramona.

“Oh?”

She’s grinning at me like the cat who’s caught the canary, and I can already feel my traitorous face burning hot again.

“Yeah. One about you getting all cozy with a certain Griffin Reeves in the hallways today?”

The heat spikes on my face, and my hands tighten on my trumpet.

“Oh, we—” I smile weakly. “We’re just… I’m tutoring him.” The lie falls easily enough from my tongue. I hope Griff is okay with “needing” a tutor.

She grins widely. “Oh, I’m sure you are.”

I blush fiercely as her eyes pierce into me.

“It’s just tutoring, Ramona.”

She just keeps grinning at me as she shrugs.

“Heard another rumor, too.”

Fuck, now what.

Okay, it’s not like I’m embarrassed that people saw Griff and I getting close in the hallway. I mean, I don’t actually care about the drama and bullshit of the popular crowd types. But I suppose it is going to raise some questions. I mean Griff is one of the hottest, most sought-after guys at Winchester. It might raise some brows that he’s getting close with the class band nerd, but whatever.

What does make me blush is the idea of people finding out I’m, uh, getting close to three of the hottest, most sought-after guys in school.

“What, uh, what did you hear?” I croak out.

She grins.

“That Griffin, Anders Teller, and Carson Lafayette have a band together?”

I swallow. “Oh?”

Her brow furrows questioningly at me.

“Yeah, oh. But why do I get the impression that isn’t news to you?”

I just shrug. “I dunno. Maybe I heard the rumor too.”

Ramona grins. “I mean, do you think they can even play?” She snorts. “Jock-rock.” She laughs at the word, throwing her head back. “Oh my God, that’s good.”

I roll my eyes, and I’m about to turn back to dig my sheet music out and avoid any more prying questions from my friend that’ll inevitably make me blush.

“Okay, there’s one more rumor I heard, too.”

I groan as I turn back.

“Ramona—”

“I also had you’ve been busy. Playing songs in your room? Disappearing at night?”

“Disappearing?”

“Yeah, like sneaking out.”

My face goes white, and I quickly shake my head. “No, where… I mean, who said I was sneak—”

I swallow, collecting myself.

“I’ve just been revisiting some old songs of mine, that’s it. Sometimes I go down to the basement of Marshall Hall. That’s all.”

Ramona’s brows stay arched with this little grin on her face that says she only barely believes me.

“Yeah, I’m sure. Wouldn’t have anything to do with this football jock-rock band, right?”

Don’t blush awkwardly. Don’t blush awkwardly.

“Don’t know what you’re talking about,” I say stiffly as Ramona smiles and rolls her eyes.

“Of course not.”

Just then, though, fate lucks me out of more prying questions, as one of the strings on Lucy Cho’s cello snaps with a loud twang. Lucy swears loudly, but Professor Mendehlson just wave his hands, getting everyone’s attention.

“Okay, okay, calm down, guys. We’ll take a quick break for Lucy to re-string. Violins and violas, I want you guys to go over that third section, alright? Flutes, you guys take another look at the fourth movement so we nail that intro.”

“So,” I quickly say, changing the subject away from Ramona’s prying questions into my involvement with Griff, or Anders or Carson at that. I blush as I realize she may have an inkling that something is going on with Griff and I, but I can’t even imagine how hard she’d be pressing me for answers if she suspected it was all three of them I’m involved with.

“So how’re the new roommates?”

Ramona groans at the grin on my face and rolls her eyes.

“Awful.”

I giggle.

By “roommates,” I mean the two guys currently living in the enormous manor Ramona, up until recently, only shared with her mom. Well, three guys, I guess, if you include her mom’s fiancé, Bobby Scott. It’s Mr. Scott’s two sons that I’m teasing her about. His two non-identical but both criminally good looking in that, well, criminal way sons, Ethan and Jamison.
