“I said stop the plane,” I snap.

“Okay, okay, okay,” he shouts as he slows the engine. I hold the broken bottle close to his Adam’s apple until the wheels have stopped. “Once I get out and close the door, you take off and never come back.”

“Gladly,” he mutters.

I run into the back, give Lincoln the asshole one more kick in the ribs, and then push open the door and run down the steps.

“Oh shit, oh shit, oh shit, oh shit,” the stewardess says as she runs over with her shoes in her hands.

She runs right past me into the plane and closes the door.

It immediately starts moving again.

I’m looking for that grizzly bear as the jet speeds down the runway and lifts into the air.

I gasp when I see him standing in the darkness a few yards from me, watching me with ownership in his eyes.

I suck in a breath and go to him.

Chapter Five

Warren

My bear is breathing heavily after the fight with the lions. They’re hanging back and pacing in front of the large tent, acting tough even though they’re too scared to come over and fight my bear again.

We don’t pay them any mind. Our gorgeous mate is walking over and she has us stunned in our tracks.

“Are you okay?” she whispers as she carefully approaches.

I’m taking over, buddy, I tell my bear as I try to pull him in. He refuses to change places. That’s a first…

Fine, I tell him. You have two minutes.

He walks up to her and lowers his head with a low rumbling sound. I can tell she’s nervous, but she’s a brave one because she doesn’t flinch when my huge bleeding grizzly bear nuzzles his nose against her stomach.

“Whoa,” she whispers as she pets his face. I can feel the love and affection flowing through our bodies. He’s as obsessed with her as I am. “Look at you.”

The tantalizing smell of her flows through our lungs and fills us with energy. It fills us with a new purpose, with a new reason to be alive.

This woman is mine and I’m going to be by her side forever. I’ll be there to protect her, to take care of her, to fulfill every need she has. I make that sacred vow as she scratches behind my bear’s ear, giving him shivers all over.

Alright, I tell my bear. You’ve had enough time with her. It’s my turn.

He grumbles in disagreement as I pull him in, but he doesn’t fight me. He lets me come out.

She steps back with a gasp as my bear shakes all over. His body convulses violently and then with a loud tear, I burst out of him.

“Whoa,” she says with a gulp as we stare at each other in awe.

My heart is hammering in my chest. I feel hyper-aware of every part of my body as this beauty stares at me.

We make quite the pair. She’s dressed in a spectacular ball gown and I’m completely naked. But this stare is seeing beyond just the outside. I feel like I’m looking into her soul and she’s looking into mine.

The outside air crackles with energy and excitement as I gaze into her gorgeous blue eyes. I want to go to her, but I can’t move. I’m rooted to the spot as our bond thickens and strengthens. I can feel it taking hold of me. I wonder if she can feel it too.

“Who are you?” she eventually whispers, never breaking eye contact.

“My name is Warren Hensley,” I tell her. “I own this ranch. I’m a grizzly bear shifter. And we’re mates.”

Her eyes widen just a little bit at the last word. “Mates?”

I nod. “You belong to me. You always have. You were made for me.”

Those sharp perceptive blue eyes quickly look me up and down. Her eyes get really big when she sees what I’m packing below my waist. Her cheeks blush a bright red as she quickly looks back up.

“And I belong to you,” I tell her in a low soothing voice. “I’m your man now.”

She doesn’t argue or fight back. She just nods and whispers, “Okay.”

I hear footsteps in the distance. It’s physically painful to rip my eyes off of this angel, but I do. Coco St. James and the three lion shifter guards are approaching.

“Shit,” I mutter when I see them coming. I don’t want to fight now. I want to be engulfed in the beautiful aura of my mate. I want to admire and study every inch of her. I want to talk for hours and learn everything about her. I want to make up for all of this lost time.

“What’s your name?” I ask as I grab her hand. It’s like lightning when our skin touches. Her hand is so soft, so delicate. It stokes the protective fire burning within me. I want to watch out for her forever.
